Lokomotive Nizhny Novgorod is a Russian football club from the city of Nizhny Novgorod . The club was one of the founding members of the Premjer League , Russia's top division.

history

The railway crew was founded in Nizhny Novgorod in 1916. The team was called Tscherwonka ( Russian Червонка ; 1918–1922), Spartak ( Russian Спартак ; 1923–1930), Tjaga ( Russian Тяга ; 1931) and Schelesnodoroschniki ( Russian Железнодорожника ) (1932). From 1936 to 2002 the association was called Lokomotive Gorki (until 1990) or Lokomotive Nizhny Novgorod (since 1990); partly with name additions (1992 Lokomotive-Eretisport ( Russian Локомотив-Эрэтиспорт ), 1993 Lokomotive Sportsmen ( Russian Локомотив-Спортсмен ), 2002 Lokomotive-GScheD ( Russian Локомотив ) -ГЖДив ) - The name was changed to Lokomotive-NN ( Russian Локомотив-НН ) in 2002 .

Lokomotive is known for its football school, but was not able to attract national attention until 1987. In 1987 they rose to the second Soviet league, in 1989 the club made it to the 1st division , where it was able to hold out for two years. In 1992 Lokomotive was divided into the newly founded Premjer League and achieved the best result in the club's history with a sixth place. In 1997, after five years, they were relegated from the top Russian league. In the same year, Lokomotive reached the semi-finals of the UI Cup . 1998 succeeded the immediate rise, followed by two more years in the Premjer League (1999 and 2000).

After two relegations in a row, the club was reorganized in 2001 and started again in the amateur field. In 2002, the company was promoted to the third class 2nd division , in which Lokomotive held until it was excluded in 2006 due to a lack of financial reserves. At about the same time it was decided that the Spartak team , which had previously played in Chelyabinsk , would move to Nizhny Novgorod and take over the training grounds and the stadium from Lokomotive NN. In 2018 another team with the traditional name Lokomotive Nizhny Novgorod was registered with the relevant authorities, since then the club has been playing in the lower class again.
