The starry sky is an astronomical yearbook for Switzerland and Germany. It was published over several decades by the astronomer Robert A. Naef and is therefore also called "the Naef".

Today the yearbook is published under the patronage of the Swiss Astronomical Society . In addition to its handy tables, it is known for its well-edited specialist articles.

The book has been published annually since 1941, so that the 2020 edition represents the 80th year. It was initially published by Verlag Sauerländer (Aarau), later by Birkhäuser Verlag (Basel / Berlin). It is currently published by Kosmos-Verlag in mid-September of the previous year and comprises around 350 pages.

The authorship stated is: "by Robert A. Naef (idea), Hans Roth (editor), Justina Engelmann (editor)". The subtitle reads: “Astronomical yearbook for star lovers for all days of the year for observation with the naked eye , binoculars and telescope”.
