Robert A. Naef (born July 22, 1907 , † March 13, 1975 ) was a Swiss bank clerk , amateur astronomer and popular educator.

He was a demonstrator at the Zurich Urania observatory , co-founder of the Swiss Astronomical Society , editor of Orion and employee of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung . From 1941 he published the " Sternenhimmel " , an astronomical yearbook for discerning amateur astronomers. This gained a high reputation for its practical content enriched with good specialist articles and is still known today for short as "the Naef". It is now published in the 76th year (2016 edition) under the editorship of Hans Roth . The asteroid (1906) Naef is named after Robert A. Naef.
