Cindy Williams
Cindy Williams (* 22. August 1947 in Van Nuys , Los Angeles , California as Cynthia Jane Williams ) is an American actress in film, television and theater.
Life
Williams began her career in commercials and television series, but starred early on in major films such as George Lucas' American Graffiti (1973) and Francis Ford Coppola's The Dialog (1974). She auditioned for Lucas' next project, Star Wars , but had to leave the role of Princess Leia to Carrie Fisher .
From 1976 to 1982 she played the title role Shirley in the sitcom Laverne & Shirley . For this role she was nominated for the 1978 Golden Globe .
In 2004 she was honored with a star on the Walk of Fame , television category.
Williams was married to actor, musician and producer Bill Hudson from 1982 to 2000 and has two children with him.
