Carrie Frances Fisher (born October 21, 1956 in Burbank , † December 27, 2016 in Los Angeles ) was an American actress , comedian and author . She became world famous as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films.

She had her first film appearance in 1975 in the comedy Shampoo . In 1977 she played the role of Princess Leia in the science fiction film Star Wars for the first time alongside Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford . In addition to various smaller film and television productions in the seventies, Carrie Fisher hosted an episode of the American comedy show Saturday Night Live in 1978 . She also played the role of Princess Leia for the second time in the television Star Wars Holiday Special .

In 1980 she played Jake Blues' vengeful ex-lover in the film Blues Brothers . In the same year appeared with The Empire Strikes Back, the second part of the original Star Wars trilogy , which was completed in 1983 with The Return of the Jedi . In 1986, Fisher starred in the Woody Allen comedy film Hannah and Her Sisters in a supporting role. In 1987 she published her first novel Postcards From the Edge (German title: Greetings from Hollywood), which contains autobiographical elements; the main character of the novel by living with her drug addiction and her mother similar problems as Fisher himself. After more than 30 years, Fisher took on the role of Leia Organa again in the seventh film in the Star Wars saga in 2014 . Personal

Fisher was the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds . Her parents divorced when she was two, and her father married Elizabeth Taylor shortly thereafter . Her brother is Todd Fisher, her half-sisters are actresses Joely Fisher and Tricia Leigh Fisher , whose mother is actress Connie Stevens . Carrie Fisher attended Beverly Hills High School and later the Central School of Speech and Drama in London .

In the 2016 published autobiography The Princess Diarist (German title: The Diary of Princess Leia ) Fisher wrote about her three-month affair with actor Harrison Ford while filming Star Wars 1976. From 1977 to 1983 Carrie Fisher had a temporarily interrupted relationship with musicians Paul Simon . In 1983 she briefly dated actor Dan Aykroyd . Carrie Fisher and Paul Simon were married from August 1983 to July 1984. Daughter Billie Lourd was born on July 17, 1992 . The child's father is artist agent Bryan Lourd (* 1960), from whom Fisher separated in 1995 after three years.

Fisher died on December 27, 2016 at the age of 60. She had a cardiac arrest four days earlier, towards the end of a flight from London to Los Angeles . Initial investigations into the exact cause of death brought no result. In mid-June 2017, the responsible coroner in Los Angeles published an opinion on the cause of death, in which he determined a breathing disorder during sleep in connection with other factors as the cause of death. In addition to noticeable fat deposits in the arteries and a heart disease, various active ingredients and traces of cocaine , heroin , other opiates and ecstasy were found. Whether and how exactly the interaction of these factors ultimately led to death could not be clarified in the investigation. Fisher had probably last used cocaine three days earlier. Her mother died of a stroke the day after her . Fisher's funeral took place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park ( Courts of Remembrance section ) in Hollywood on January 6, 2017 . She was buried next to her mother. Your urn is shaped like a Prozac pill. Fisher intermittently took this antidepressant because she suffered from bipolar disorder.
