Vilém Kreibich

Vilém Kreibich (born January 6, 1884 in Zdice ; † November 27, 1955 ) was a Czechoslovak artist.

He came from a family of railroad workers , his father was a train driver. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague , he received his first orders for pictures from the Škoda works in Prague, the largest Czechoslovakian steam locomotive manufacturer .

In addition to paintings , he created the color design of the Czechoslovak steam locomotives together with Vlastimil Mares, a mechanical engineer in the Ministry of Railways and the later director of the Czechoslovak state railways Československé státní dráhy , in the period between the world wars .

After the Second World War, he also designed constructive designs for the locomotives, which the mechanical engineers successfully implemented.
