Fanboys is an American comedy film of Kyle Newman from the year 2009 , in the July 30, 2009 German came cinemas.
action
The story begins in 1998. After it becomes known that Linus has cancer and he will no longer see the long-awaited premiere of Star Wars: Episode I , his best friends Hutch, Windows and Eric decide to realize a plan they make forged in their childhood: They want to drive 2,000 miles to California to steal a copy of the film from George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch . On the way there, the four must defend themselves against all kinds of enemies.

After a rough cut of the film was presented to George Lucas , he gave official permission to publish the film in full and to use original sound effects from Star Wars . Director Kyle Newman also asked him for a cameo , but Lucas refused.

Trivia
In a real-life case, Disney and Lucasfilm made it possible for a special screening of the seventh part of Star Wars: The Force Awakens for a cancer-sick fan about a month before the release in December 2015. Star Wars actors Mark Hamill and John Boyega had also advocated it.

“A running gag of Kyle Newman's fun is the rivalry between star warriors and Trekkies - including an extremely cool guest appearance by 'Star Trek' veteran William Shatner and an attack on the Captain Kirk statue in Riverside, Iowa. This aversion of the two camps is so fresh and realistic that every viewer will wonder which side they are actually on.
