Trekkie or Trekker is the name given to a trailer for the Star Trek television series .

Some Trekkies meet regularly at regular get-togethers (TrekDinner), attend so-called Star Trek conventions (in Germany e.g. FedCon , Galileo 7 Con), take part in role-playing games or write fan fiction .

The term Trekkie is entered in the Oxford English Dictionary (unabridged version and online edition), which no other fan group has done so far.

Trekkies in different films

Denise Crosby has made two documentaries about Star Trek fans. In Trekkies (1997), the (most extreme) were US Star Trek fans shown. The European fan scene was introduced in Trekkies 2 (2004). In addition, Trekkies are sometimes parodied in US TV series such as The Simpsons or American Dad . The series The Big Bang Theory is about four young physicists who are also Trekkies. Trekkies also play a role in Galaxy Quest and in Fanboys .
