Denise Michelle Crosby (born November 24, 1957 in Hollywood , California ) is an American actress and former model .

Life

Denise Crosby is the granddaughter of singer and actor Bing Crosby . From 1983 to 1990 she was married to the director and actor Geoffrey Edwards . She has been married to Ken Sylk for the second time since 1995 and has one son (born June 17, 1998).

From 1979 she had minor supporting roles in film productions such as Ten - Die Traumfrau (1979) and Just 48 Hours (1982). She became internationally known when she got the role of Tasha Yar in the Star Trek television series Starship Enterprise - The Next Century in 1986 .

During the first season she left the series again because she did not want to be committed to this character for the rest of her career; her character died in the 23rd episode (The Black Soul - Skin of Evil ) the serial death. Later in the series, she returned to the series in several guest appearances as Tasha Yar and her daughter Sela .

After leaving Star Trek , Denise Crosby was only seen sporadically in supporting roles (including Deep Impact , 1998) in cinema productions after a leading role in the horror film Friedhof der Kuscheltiere . Furthermore, she had numerous guest appearances in several television series such as in 1994 in three episodes of the series Superman - The Adventures of Lois & Clark or in The Walking Dead (2014). From 2015 to 2017 she starred in Ray Donovan .

In 1997 Denise Crosby produced the documentary Trekkies , which portrayed the Star Trek phenomenon and some of its enthusiastic fans . In the summer of 2004 a sequel was released under the title Trekkies 2 , which won a prize in a preview at a film festival in the USA.
