action

Harry Washello, a young man who lives in Los Angeles and is freshly in love, wants to meet his new girlfriend Julie at a diner, but is a little late. When he happened to take a call in a phone booth in front of the diner, a panicked voice answered the other end of the line, reporting that American nuclear missiles were about to be fired from missile silos in North Dakota and that a nuclear counter-attack could be expected which will reach the US in just over an hour. Shocked and scared, he returns to the diner and tells the people present what has just happened. A heated discussion begins about whether this might actually be true and what to do. Harry's only one thing left in mind is to find Julie as soon as possible and to escape with her. He sets off to come to Julie's house and pick her up. Harry also finds out in the meantime that there is supposed to be a pilot in a nearby fitness club who can fly a helicopter and goes to him to explain what will happen in the next hour and that it will happen so quickly need to flee the city as possible. When he has found Julie, he initially hides what happened so as not to panic her. In doing so, he invents an excuse to make her follow him.

As the news slowly broke the city through what happened, chaos broke out across Los Angeles and people began either to flee the city in their cars as quickly as possible, or to loot and destroy the city all over town. Harry can no longer hide from Julie what will happen, and they make their way to the helicopter pad to meet the pilot. The apocalypse can no longer be stopped, and the first intercontinental missiles are already reaching the city, destruction and death prevail. The three still try to start the helicopter, but are hit by a pressure wave after it takes off. The pilot is seriously injured, the helicopter falls into an asphalt pit and begins to sink. Harry and Julie cannot free themselves because the doors cannot be opened and sink in the helicopter. They see how more and more missiles reach their target and everything is destroyed. They hold each other in their arms and together prepare to go to death.

Reviews

  • Cinema : "Great apocalypse shocker"
  • Moviebreak : "Already with the first pictures it becomes clear that The Night of Decision - Miracle Mile will draw from very remote, wonderfully unique shots (cameraman Theo van de Sande does a great job), which especially through the combination with the intangible threatening backdrop and the The soundtrack of Tangerine Dream is gaining in radiance. In any case, the race against time that The Night of Decision - Miracle Mile describes is extremely sensory cinema, with which Steve De Jarnatt provides a wonderful example of economic work: With limited resources, this is so A lot of potential has been tapped that it should make some big budget productions blush with shame. And yet, in the end, when the catastrophe comes to a head, the film finally reveals its true essence: The night of the decision - Miracle Mile is a real one romantic, bittersweet love story. "
