Richard Biggs (born March 18, 1960 in Columbus , Ohio , † May 22, 2004 in Burbank , California ) was an American actor .

Life

In high school, Biggs took an interest in acting and won a scholarship to the USC School of Theater at the University of Southern California . There he studied performing arts . He taught drama in various schools and developed his own curriculum.

Biggs has had hearing problems since childhood. Completely deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other, he learned sign language as an adult , expecting to completely lose his hearing. During his acting career, he supported various schools for the hearing impaired and took part in several related fundraising events.

His most famous roles were those of Dr. Stephen Franklin in Babylon 5 and the Dr. Marcus Hunter in the time of longing .

On May 22, 2004, Biggs collapsed at his home in the San Fernando Valley and died shortly thereafter of an aortic dissection at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank . He left a wife and two sons.
