Robert DoQui

Robert DoQui (born April 20, 1934 in Stillwater , Payne County , Oklahoma , † February 9, 2008 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film actor .

Life

Robert DoQui received a music scholarship to the small Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, where he became a member of a music group called Langstonaires , which became known in the local area. As a young man, DoQui signed up for a period of four years with the United States Air Force before moving briefly to New York City and then to Hollywood in the early 1960s .

The African American's career began in 1964 as a guest actor on the television series The Outer Limits . A year later, in 1965, he was in Taffy and the Jungle Hunter , an adventure film by Terry O. Morse , in front of the camera for the first time in a feature film. DoQui was a sought-after actor who appeared in over 100 films and, above all, television series. He convinced in comedies, such as The Charming Jeannie , and westerns, including Smoking Colts , as well as in sci-fi series, including Star Trek: Deep Space Nine .

However, he was first known for his role as Sergeant Reed in all three RoboCop films, which were produced in 1987, 1990 and 1993. Also well-known is the film Short Cuts by Robert Altman , for which DoQui received the Golden Globe Award as part of the best ensemble of actors.

In addition to his work as an actor, he also sat on the board of directors of the Screen Actors Guild for many years and was particularly committed to ensuring that women and minorities, but especially blacks, should have more opportunities in the media sector.

Robert DoQui died in February 2008 at the age of 73.

He left behind his partner, actress Mittie Lawrence , and their five children.
