Anthony Charles Edwards (born July 19, 1962 in Santa Barbara , California ) is an American actor .

life and career

He began his career in the 1980s with films such as I think I stand in the woods , in which he appeared in smaller roles. In the action comedy Gotcha! - A crazy trip from 1985 he played the lead role.

Edwards became popular with a wider audience through the role of Lt. Nick "Goose" Bradshaw in the film Top Gun alongside Tom Cruise known. He then appeared in The Client alongside Susan Sarandon .

His best-known role is undoubtedly that of emergency room doctor Dr. Mark Greene , one of the main characters in the first eight seasons (1994-2002, 2008) of the hugely successful and long-lasting US television series Emergency Room . For this portrayal he was nominated several times for an Emmy , which he never won. However, the only Golden Globe awarded to the Emergency Room series went to Edwards. He also won two Screen Actors Guild Awards in 1996 and 1998 for Best Actor in a Television Series - Drama .

Following his time at Emergency Room , Edwards appeared in various film and television productions. His work includes more than 50 productions.

Anthony Edwards has been married to make-up artist Jeanine Lobell since 1994. They have four children together.
