Uniejów [ uˈɲɛjuf ] ( Uniejow , 1943–1945 Brückstädt , older also Unienau ) is a city in the Łódź Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the town-and-country municipality of the same name with 7012 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2019).

Uniejów is located on the banks of the Warta and is a state-approved health resort.

history

Castle

The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1136. He received the town charter in 1290. In 1331 the place was destroyed by soldiers of the Teutonic Order . In 1870 the place lost its town charter, but received it again in 1919.

local community

The town itself and 30 villages with school offices belong to the town-and-country community (gmina miejsko-wiejska) Uniejów.
