Killing Dreams (alternative title on TV: Killing Dreams - Tödliche Visionen ; Original title: Dream Man ) is an American thriller by René Bonnière from 1995 .

action

Police officer Kris Anderson works in the homicide department in Seattle . She has clairvoyant skills that she uses in her work. At the beginning of the film she succeeds in finding several fugitive criminals, but by going it alone puts her colleagues in danger; one is seriously injured by the criminal to be arrested. Her boss rebukes her for this, but later he still proposes her for promotion.

One day the wealthy politician Janice Reynolds is stabbed; shortly afterwards her sister Caroline is murdered in the same way. Due to a shirt with the writing "DM", which was discovered through the skills of Anderson, the main suspect is initially David Mander, the husband of the politician. He is arrested but released on bail. DNA traces later lead to Robert Reynolds, the brother of the two victims.

Based on the order of succession, investigators assume that Sarah, Janice's daughter from her first marriage, could be the next victim; Anderson and her partner Tom Cavanaugh take care of their protection. Because of her dreams, Anderson falls in love with Mander. Cavanaugh then becomes jealous, not least because he had a brief relationship with Anderson.

Cavanaugh explains to Anderson that the shirt was deliberately "hidden" so that Anderson could use her skills to find it. Anderson now realizes that other traces were deliberately laid in such a way that she would always come to Mander clairvoyantly, and that the relationship with him was also part of a plan - carried out by her "best friend" Barbara. After a fight, Barbara is shot dead by Anderson. Anderson is suspended from duty because of her relationship with the suspect.

In fact, Mander turns out to be the real mastermind behind the murders. He shoots his accomplice Robert Reynolds and plans to eliminate Anderson and his stepdaughter as well. There is a fight with Cavanaugh, who has since arrived, and in the end Mander is shot by Anderson.
