Patricia Jude Frances "Patsy" Kensit (born March 4, 1968 in Hounslow , London ) is a British actress and musician . She became known in the 1980s as the singer of the group Eighth Wonder with songs like I'm Not Scared and Cross My Heart and in the role of consular secretary Rika alongside Mel Gibson in the film Brennpunkt LA

Life

Kensit's mother was a publicist and her father a professional criminal. He was a member of the London gang of the Kray twins . He was sentenced to prison before his daughter was born. Her paternal grandfather was known as a forger and robber. Kensit had been in front of the camera for the first time at the age of four. After her film debut as a six-year-old in 1974 with Mia Farrow in The Great Gatsby , her breakthrough came in 1986 as an actress in the role of Crepe Suzette in Absolute Beginners . In this film she sang the self-composed song Having It All, with which she briefly landed a hit in England. She later studied at the Corona Theater School .

Through her brother, Kensit became the lead singer of Spice in 1983 at the age of 14, who called themselves Eighth Wonder from 1985. Eighth Wonder produced three successful hits ( Stay with Me , I'm Not Scared and Cross My Heart ). Together with Eros Ramazzotti , she recorded the duet La luce buona delle stelle, published in 1987 on his album In certi momenti . Eighth Wonder broke up in 1989.

Kensit got married four times; all four husbands were or are still musicians. In 1988 she married Dan Donovan of Big Audio Dynamite , and in 1992 Jim Kerr , lead singer of Simple Minds . During this marriage, their first son, James, was born. In 1997 she married Liam Gallagher from Oasis . Kensit and Gallagher also have a son, Lennon, named after John Lennon . They divorced in 2000. On April 18, 2009 she married the former singer Jeremy Healy of the band Haysi Fantayzee , from whom she has been separated since 2010.
