Haysi Fantayzee was a British band that became known in the New Romantic music scene in the early 1980s in the slipstream of Culture Club . Like other bands like Dead or Alive and Marilyn , they had a big hit and released several singles and then disappeared completely from the scene.

Career

The band was founded by Paul Caplin, who previously sang for the band Animal Magnet , as well as Jeremiah Healy and Kate Garner , who attracted attention because of their striking appearance. Colorful leggings , long dreadlocks , eye-catching hats and wide shirts were part of the clothing repertoire of Jeremiah Healy and Kate Garner. Her appearance was reminiscent of the singer and DJ Boy George . There were also bassist Alfie Agius, violinist Bobby Valentino and saxophonist Simon Henry as well as the two guitarists Mick and Kate Green.

Haysi Fantayzee had their breakthrough in 1982 with the song "John Wayne Is Big Leggy" and the subsequent single "Shiny Shiny", both of which entered the international charts . The accompanying album "Battle Hymns for Children Singing" could not offer any more hits and remained the only album of the band. Since the album could not continue the success, the band fell apart. Jeremiah Healy then worked as a progressive trance DJ. Kate Garner made several solo records and subsequently became a successful photographer. Alfie Agius joined the band The Fixx .
