National Television Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Television Awards has been a UK event since 1995 that awards prizes for excellence in television . The National Television Awards is the UK's premier viewer-voted award and the award is broadcast on commercial network ITV .

history

From 1995 to 2008 the event took place annually in October in the Royal Albert Hall and after no awards were given in 2009, the ceremony has been held in January in the O 2 Arena in London since 2010 .

choice

Viewers can choose a short list of nominees from the long list of nominations compiled by ITV , and later select the winners from that short list. Votes can be cast via the Internet, SMS and telephone.

In contrast to the BAFTA Awards, foreign programs and people can also be nominated as long as they have been seen on British television during the corresponding period. For example, the American series Desperate Housewives was nominated in 2005 in the "Most Popular Drama" category.
