The secret

One day he met Monique and fell in love with her. He began an affair with her that Alma found out after a while. To punish him for his infidelity, she disappeared and moved to her aunt in Canada. Orson was then suspected of murder, but could never be convicted. Orson went to Monique to celebrate with her, full of joy at his freedom at last. Unfortunately, however, Monique was already killed by Orson's mother, who refused to tolerate adultery. Orson then helped his mother out of guilty conscience and buried Monique's body with her. Before that, Gloria pulled all of her teeth so the police couldn't identify her. Afterward, Orson took his mother to a home and never wanted to have anything to do with her again. Since Mike wanted to fix Monique's sink on the night of the murder and saw Orson that night, he was afraid that Mike might connect him to the murder. So Orson ambushed him and ran him over, causing Mike to fall into a coma.

Fourth season

The housewives

  • Bree and her new neighbor Katherine fight for the honor of being the perfect housewife. Furthermore, she pretends to be pregnant because Danielle is supposed to be keeping it a secret. Danielle later gives birth to a healthy son named Benjamin Tyson and gives Bree the confidence that she will take good care of him. Soon after, Bree and Orson get into a little argument about Benjamin, in which Bree realizes in the end that Orson not only pretends to be Benjamin's father, but also feels that way. Since Andrew gets the impression that he has no place in Bree's new life, he moves out. A tornado destroys parts of Bree's house, so she, Orson and Benjamin move in with Susan. When Bree learns that Orson was the one who ran Mike over, she decides that she cannot forgive him for what he did. Orson is forced to leave Wisteria Lane. However, since he doesn't just want to give up his marriage to Bree, he tries to talk to her several times. Bree promises him that she will be forgiven as soon as he faces the police and faces the consequences of his act. The pastor of the local parish tries to win the heart of Bree after knowing the separation. However, she rejects him, which the pastor does not accept. During a service there is a scandal in which the pastor knocks down Bree's husband Orson and accuses Bree of unchastity. Meanwhile, Bree reveals the secret of Danielle's child to her friends, as Edie blackmailed her. Lynette, Gaby and Susan then end the friendship with Edie.
  • After her wedding to Victor, Gabrielle begins an affair with Carlos. When Victor finds out about it, he wants to talk to Gaby alone on his boat. After an argument between the two, Victor falls overboard due to a blow from Gaby and is rescued alive on a coast a little later. Victor then goes to Wisteria Lane with a pistol to wait for Gaby and Carlos. While a tornado rages over the road, Carlos and Victor fight, which ends with Victor being pierced by a fence post and dying. Victor's father Milton makes it clear to Gaby at Victor's funeral that she will receive none of Victor's money and that she must leave the funeral early. Carlos loses his eyesight as a result of the tornado, but initially hesitates to tell Gaby about it, as he initially fears that it would cause her to leave him.
As the papers on Carlos' illegal bank account on Cayman Island were swept away by the tornado during an argument between Gaby and Edie, Carlos and Gaby are now "poor". In their difficult financial situation, they rent a room in their house to the drug dealer Ellie, with whom Gaby quickly becomes friends. However, Ellie is shadowed by the police and has to flee the house in a covert operation without being able to take personal items with her. She calls Gaby to give her a stuffed bear. In this, Gaby discovers more than $ 100,000 in cash that the Solis' can really use. There is a fight between Ellie and Gaby, where Ellie has to flee again due to the called police. She breaks into Katherine's house and is shot by Wayne. As a result, Gaby and Carlos can hide the cash from the police in order to reduce their debts.
  • Lynette continues to fight cancer. Meanwhile, this creates some marital problems for her and Tom. Ultimately, Lynette is able to beat cancer, and her mother, who was visiting to take care of her, leaves the Scavo house after some difficulties and henceforth lives with Lynette's homosexual stepfather. After the tornado devastated Wisteria Lane, Lynette fears for the lives of her children and her husband who are buried under Mrs. McCluskey's house. Her family is saved by McCluskey's friend Ida Greenberg, who is killed in the process. Kayla has since begun to hate Lynette and persuades Porter and Preston to start a fire in the rival pizzeria across from the Scavos. Lynette then suspects Tom to have started this fire. The situation comes to a head until Kayla harms herself and tries to pin this on Lynette. The police arrest Lynette first, but Tom sets a trap for his own daughter and Kayla has to leave the Scavo house.
  • Edie only staged her suicide attempt to bind Carlos to himself. She almost accidentally dies, but Carlos saves her at the last second. When she's fine again, he keeps inventing new excuses for why he's out in the afternoon. This makes Edie suspicious, and with the help of a private detective, she finds out that Carlos is cheating on her. When the tornado sweeps through the street, Edie and Gaby hide together and make up again in the face of danger. When Edie blackmailed Bree with the secret that the child was actually from Danielle, Bree strikes back and confides the story to her friends. The latter then break off contact with Edie, who wants to devote herself to her son for an indefinite period and disappears from Wisteria Lane.
  • Susan and Mike learn that they are expecting a child. First, Mike and Susan face everyday marital problems. Mike soon can't cope with the financial pressure Susan is putting on him, takes excessive pills and becomes dependent on them. When Susan finds out, she manages to convince Mike to go to rehab. In the finale, Susan gets her son Maynard, who is named after Mike's grandfather. Susan doesn't agree with the name, even has it changed again, but after Mike tells her what a great person his grandfather was, it stays with Maynard. Julie is now accepted by the elite Princeton University and Mike gives Julie the inherited money from his grandfather to be able to pay the school fees.
  • Katherine Mayfair is moving to Wisteria Lane with her family, but the housewife is no stranger to having lived there a decade earlier. She first received recognition for her excellent cooking and baking skills. She and Bree wage a friendly war over which of them is the better housewife and neighbor. Katherine learns that her husband was having an affair with a patient in Chicago. The patient did not survive the tornado. After the tornado passes, Katherine throws her husband out of the house. Wayne, Katherine's first husband, secretly befriends her daughter Dylan, assuming he is her birth father. After a paternity test , however, he learns the opposite. In the last episode of the fourth season there is the final showdown: Wayne kidnaps Katherine's husband Adam and wants to blackmail the whereabouts of the legitimate child, who is not Dylan. During the torture, it looks like Wayne beat Adam to death. Wayne then goes to Katherine to kill her. In the process, however, Ellie, the Solis' lodger, comes towards him, who shoots Wayne for his murder plan. Adam, in turn, goes to Katherine, seriously injured, to protect her. In a scuffle between Adam and Wayne, Wayne is wounded by a bullet. Katherine shoots him as he continues to threaten her. Bree, Susan, Gaby and Lynette cover for Katherine by putting the police on a recorded act so that this murder is considered self-defense by the police.

The secret

Katherine ran away from Wisteria Lane years ago and no one knew why. Now that it's back, the secret is coming to light. 14 years ago, Katherine tried to report her then-husband Wayne, because he had repeatedly hit her and she feared that he would be violent against her daughter Dylan. However, since her husband has good contacts with the authorities as a police officer, the complaint disappeared. A policewoman advised Katherine to take her daughter and leave as soon as possible. She then fled to Wisteria Lane to her aunt Lillian Simms. But after a few months, Wayne followed her. Since there was no time to escape, she tried to confront her husband. Before that, she had placed a Dylan doll that her father had given her on a tall cupboard. The conversation with Wayne was noisy, and Katherine knocked him down with a candlestick. Lilly came over because she had heard a row and asked about Katherine. However, this seemed happy and believed Wayne finally to be rid. The two noticed, however, that the noise hadn't come from the scuffle between Katherine and Wayne, but from Dylan, who had tried to get her doll from the closet. Dylan had been killed in the closet. Lilly and Katherine buried the body, afraid that the police would assume Katherine had killed her daughter to keep her away from Wayne. Knowing that Wayne would kill her if he ever found out, Katherine went to a Romanian orphanage. There she found a girl whose mother had died in childbirth and whose father was murdered. The girl passed her off as Dylan because she looked amazingly similar to her, and moved to Chicago, where she met her new husband Adam. However, she always told Adam that Wayne was responsible for Dylan's death.

Final jump in time

In the final minutes of the fourth season, the story of Wisteria Lane jumps five years into the future, where the story continues from season five. The reason for this leap in time is that the authors can bring in new secrets from the past. This final scene shows Susan, Bree, Gaby, Lynette and Katherine playing cards. The friends go home and you can see how the a little battered Gaby catches her two daughters doing makeup. Bree finds her son Andrew on the phone with someone from the New York Times . The caller wants to interview Bree about her latest cookbook, but Bree wants to spend some time with Orson first. Lynette learns at home that her son Preston has broken into a car and must go to juvenile prison with his brother Porter. Susan goes home, where her boyfriend is waiting for her, who is no longer Mike, and Katherine calls Dylan, who got engaged in Paris.

Fifth season

The housewives

  • Bree is now the successful author of a cookbook and has set up an exclusive catering service together with Katherine. The collaboration between the former rivals developed during the time Orson was in prison and Katherine also felt alone after Dylan moved out. When Bree became addicted to alcohol again, Katherine had helped her too, so despite all the arguments, she feels indebted to her. Still, the success of her cookbook arouses envy among some of the friends. Not only with Katherine, who feels that she has missed out, but also with Lynette, who looks back on her own career that she gave up for her family and the pizzeria. However, Bree worries about Orson, who initially conceals from her that he has not found a new job after his release from prison. She hires him as a business partner, but Katherine has a problem with that. However, after Orson and Katherine have spoken out, they can calm things down. While her relationship with Andrew seems to have relaxed completely, she has almost no contact with Danielle after she has taken Benjamin. Orson manages to arrange a new meeting, but when Bree feeds the now vegetarian grandson with a hot dog and this is later discovered by Danielle, she leaves the house with her fiancé. Bree also meets Andrew's fiancé Alex, Orson's doctor. Orson falls into a kleptomania and steals items from other households on Wisteria Lane, inciting Bree. It gets to the point that Orson runs out onto the street after a break-in. Edie, in her car, has to avoid him and hits a power pole, where she gets an electric shock when getting out and dies. When Bree finds out, she wants to divorce Orson. She gets legal support from Susan's ex-husband Karl. During their trial, the two start an affair.
  • In the meantime, contrary to expectations, Gabrielle and Carlos have had two children, Juanita and Celia. Carlos remains blind and takes care of the family by working as a masseur at the country club. Gaby, however, has to take care of the children. She has since said goodbye to her previous prosperity, albeit reluctantly. Her two children, especially Juanita, struggle with being overweight, but Gaby loves them more than anything. Her relationship with Carlos also continues to go well. When Carlos' doctor makes the discovery that Carlos may be able to see again, Gaby begins to work on her appearance again. Shortly after Carlos regained his eyesight, Gaby finds her way back to her old dream figure. Carlos starts working again, and after Carlos' boss is killed by his wife, he is summarily appointed boss. Gaby, however, is afraid that they will become the self-centered married couple from before, but Carlos quickly takes this fear away from her. After some arguments with Juanita, Carlos and Gaby decide to do Carlos 'aunt a favor to take Carlos' niece Ana into their home. However, Ana turns out to be a small version of the earlier manipulative Gaby.
  • Katherine and Adam have since split up. Katherine is also accepted into the poker game by the other housewives. Bree even sees her as a sister, having helped her overcome her drinking problem again. Katherine becomes Bree's partner in her company. However, when she realizes that Bree is the star of the company, she becomes jealous of Bree, so Katherine belittles her in an interview. Later she starts an affair with Mike Delfino and tries to get Susan's and Mike's son MJ on her side, but it doesn't succeed. Still, she gets MJ to get Mike to propose to her. This agrees. Later, Susan goes on an outing with Dave. Katherine and Mike are at the airport to get married in Las Vegas at the time. When Mike accidentally overhears a tape where Dave confesses to MJ's murder, he leaves Katherine at the airport and rushes off to rescue Susan and MJ. In the final scene of season five you see Mike and his bride standing in front of the altar, but the bride's face is covered with a veil, so you don't know whether Mike will marry Katherine or Susan.
  • Lynette continues to be stuck between the pizzeria and her family. Even if your children have gotten older, that doesn't mean less work. The twins in particular cause a lot of trouble, which now regularly calls the police on the scene. When she sees the - in her opinion completely boring - PR campaign for Bree's cookbook, she sees an opportunity to re-establish herself as a marketing expert. But Bree refuses her offer. Lynette learns that the campaign is being led by one of her former assistants and realizes that the train has left for her. Her husband Tom, on the other hand, has a midlife crisis, so he first gets a Ford Mustang and then forms a garage band with some other men from the neighborhood. When he also wants to sell the pizzeria to drive through the country with the family in a mobile home, Lynette's collar bursts and she can at least stop him. Lynette later suspects Tom of having an affair with Anne, the mother of one of Porter's school friends. In reality, however, it is Porter who is having the affair. Anne's violent husband Warren gets wind of the affair and accuses Porter of burning his club, the real culprit being Dave. After Lynette banishes Anne from town with money, Porter is arrested. They win the case even though it was his twin brother Preston, not Porter, who appeared in the courtroom. Due to the economic crisis, Tom has to sell his pizzeria with a heavy heart, and he falls into his midlife crisis again. Lynette then starts working at Carlos' company. Tom has to admit that he doesn't know what to do next. He is a middle-aged man and has no idea what to do with the rest of his life. After touring a campus with Preston, he decides to go back to school. He passed the entrance examination with top marks and majored in Chinese. Meanwhile, Lynette receives news from her doctor: She is pregnant again and is expecting twins.
  • Susan and Mike live happily with their son. However, when they were driving to dinner one evening, they had a terrible car accident, which they got through without a hitch, but in which a mother and her young daughter were killed. The two then repeatedly reproach each other about this incident, which causes their marriage to fall apart. Mike moves out of the neighborhood, but visits his son regularly. Susan begins an initially relatively insignificant affair with her painter Jackson. Mike feels more and more pushed out of his role as a father. B. Jackson is teaching MJ to ride a bike. When Jackson wants to move in with Susan to intensify the relationship, Susan initially panics and separates. She later regrets this and wants to apologize, but catches another woman in Jackson's apartment. But she realizes that she is not entirely innocent of the whole thing and makes up with Jackson. When Mike and his band perform at Warren Schilling's Club, Julie also comes to visit. She has brought her friend, a teacher who has been divorced several times, who wants to propose to her. Susan thwarts this skillfully. When Jackson tries to go to the bathroom in the club, he sees Dave coming out of the storeroom, which he thoroughly dislikes, which is why he locks Jackson in the toilet. When the fire started by Dave breaks out a short time later, Jackson is able to escape from the toilet window. A short time later Jackson has to leave Fairview for professional reasons and Susan separates from him. In order to be able to pay the money for Maynard's school education, Susan begins to work as an art teacher. Since MJ is now staying with Katherine, now Mike's friend, Susan becomes jealous of Katherine. Jackson returns to Fairview and proposes marriage to Susan. Susan misunderstands this and confesses her love to Jackson. Jackson, however, has to marry in order not to be deported to Canada. She agrees to help him and wants to marry him. Dave, however, still fears that Jackson will tell the police that he saw him in the storeroom during the fire. He whistles Jackson to the immigration authorities, so that Jackson has to go back to Canada. Susan and MJ go on a fishing trip with Dave a little later. But this one has only one goal, he wants revenge on Susan. Dave's wife and daughter Paige were killed in the accident a few years earlier. Now Dave wants to kill Justice and MJ. However, in a final touch of compassion, Dave lets MJ get out of the car and pulls into Mike's car. Mike, Susan and their son survived the accident unscathed while Dave was taken to a mental hospital.
  • Edie moves back to Wisteria Lane after five years. She has now married. Her husband Dave makes a friendly impression at first, but then has completely sudden outbursts of anger. Karen McCluskey becomes suspicious and tries to find out more details about Dave. Dave didn't move into the neighborhood without ulterior motives, he is looking for someone. It becomes clear early on in the season that it's Mike, if not why. So he gets Mike the former house of Mary Alice and Paul cheaply so that he can play in Tom Scavo's garage band. As Karen McCluskey grows more suspicious of him, he manages to portray her at a surprise 70th birthday party as so confused that she is hospitalized after a fit of anger. When Edie finds out that Dave's family died in an accident with Mike, Dave tries to strangle her. However, she manages to escape after he has let go of her. Edie drives away in the car, avoiding Orson staggering in the street, crashing into a power pole. When she is about to leave the car, she does not notice that a torn power cable is hanging in front of the car door. She steps into a puddle and dies as a result of an electric shock. Later, at Dave's request, the other housewives bring their ashes to their son Travers, remembering Edie as they drive. In the end, each of the housewives disperses part of Edie's ashes, thus paying her their final respects.

The secret

Two years after the time jump, Susan caused a car accident in which Mike was injured and Dave Williams' (then Dash) wife Lila and five-year-old daughter Paige died. Dave developed mental health problems and went into psychotherapy for a while. Three years after the accident, he and Edie, whom he had married in the meantime, move into Wisteria Lane to get revenge on Mike. Dave thought Mike was responsible for the accident as he was charged but not convicted of the accident. After murdering his then-psychiatrist so he wouldn't reveal his secret and his attempts to kill Mike fail, he finds out that it was actually Susan who caused the accident and now plans to kill Mike and Susan's son MJ. Due to the message to Mike, in which he tries to explain his planned act, the latter recognizes Dave's motives and tries to prevent the murder. Ultimately, Dave spares MJ because of his guilty conscience and is then admitted to a mental hospital.

Small leap in time

The final minutes of season five take place two months later, after the events with Dave. Mike remarries, and all of the neighbors, friends and acquaintances, except for Susan and Katherine, are gathered in the church. The bride's face is covered by a veil.

Sixth season

The housewives

  • After the events of the fifth season, Susan and Mike remarry. But her happiness is short-lived as Susan faces Katherine's jealousy and hostility towards her. A short time later, her daughter Julie Mayer is the victim of the so-called "Fairview strangler", which almost kills her. Karen McCluskey does not find her until the next day and has to spend some time in the hospital. Susan finds out that her ex-husband Karl and Bree are having an affair, which she is initially not very enthusiastic about, but gives her blessing to the relationship after a while. When Karl dies in the plane crash, he inherits his shares in a strip club. She's not very happy about it, especially when she finds out Mike is a regular there. She sells her share again and convinces the stripper Robin Gallagher to quit her job there and take a normal job. Towards the end of the season, Susan has to deal with a new problem as Mike needs financial help but declines to let Susan help him. The two of them have no choice but to leave their house on Wisteria Lane. To the ignorance of the two, their house is then rented to Paul.
  • The Scavo family is put to the test by Lynette's pregnancy with twins. At first Lynette is very unsure whether she wants to keep the babies and hides her pregnancy from her friends, especially from her new boss Carlos. After a while, however, she can no longer hide the pregnancy and is fired, whereupon she falls out with Gaby and Carlos. The friendship of the three can be saved by Lynette pushing Celia Solis out of the way of the crashing plane and saving her life, but one of her babies dies. In the meantime, she also has to deal with the fact that her husband Tom is going back to university. After Lynette has been fired, however, he has to finish his studies and will work for Lynette at Carlos until she has given birth to the child. Tom later tells Carlos that he wants to keep Lynette's job after the birth of his child, which leads to a huge argument between the two. Tom then goes to a therapist and can convince Lynette to go to the sessions. However, Lynette quickly loses confidence in the therapist. Later, their son Preston comes back from his European trip and brings a Russian woman named Irina with him, whom he wants to marry. Lynette distrusts Irina from the start, because she thinks Irina is a gold digger, which she is right about. Preston cancels the wedding but is angry with his mother. Irina is later killed by the "Fairview Strangler," who it turns out to be Eddie, one of Preston's best friends. At the end of the season, Lynette gives birth to her daughter while Eddie is holding her hostage and convinces Eddie to face the police.
  • Bree continues the affair with Karl, Susan's ex-husband. She is initially very concerned about Susan's reaction if she found out that Bree was dating her ex-husband. Angie, who hired Bree after firing Katherine for doing a huge scene at a wedding, discovered the affair pretty quickly. However, after initial skepticism, Susan gives the relationship her blessing. Karl proposes to Bree, which she can no longer accept because Orson has found out that Bree is having an affair. During the Christmas party, the three are arguing in Santa's house when the crashing plane slams straight into the house. While Bree sustains minor injuries, Karl dies during the operation, and Orson injures his spine, leaving him paralyzed and likely never to walk again. Bree then feels guilty about all the pain she inflicted on Orson and tries her best to reconcile with Orson. However, Orson makes her life hell, he lets z. B. stop washing from her or pretend to the physiotherapist that Bree would hit him and treat him badly. After a violent argument between the two, Orson admits that he is so upset because he has lost his independence and now has to ask for help, whereupon Bree apologizes to him. A short time later, Orson tries to commit suicide, but Bree is able to prevent it. Bree later gets into another argument with her son Andrew, who distrusts Bree's new employee, Sam Allen, who claims to be Rex's illegitimate son. Sam manipulates Bree into firing Andrew. Later, a dinner is sabotaged by Bree, and she at first suspects Andrew, but she discusses it with Orson and realizes that it couldn't have been Andrew and begins to distrust Sam too. When Sam finds out that Andrew ran over Juanita Solis (Gaby's mother-in-law) 10 years ago and then hit and missed and the incident was covered up by the family, he blackmailed Bree in order to get her money and company. He succeeds because Bree refuses to go to the police about it, or Andrew would go to jail. As a result, Orson accuses Bree of being a hypocrite because she forced him to face the police when they found out that Orson ran over Mike and then hit and missed. The two separate and get divorced.
  • Gabrielle has to take in Carlos' niece Ana, which leads to a lot of friction between the two, as Ana was just like Gaby before. Ana initially loves John Rowland, Gaby's former gardener, with whom she had an affair. Gaby is not enthusiastic about this connection and can prevent it. Her parenting skills are put to the test when she is responsible for having her daughter Juanita kicked out of school. From now on she has to teach her daughter at home. But she manages to enroll Juanita in private school, where Susan works as an art teacher and her son MJ is a student. The friendship with Lynette almost falls apart, as Lynette Carlos hides her pregnancy, is fired by him and the two are sued. When Lynette pushes Celia out of the way of the crashing plane and loses one of her babies, the two manage to save their friendship. Gaby begins to distrust Angie after she threatens Carlos for throwing her son Danny out of his apartment after catching Ana and Danny having sex on the couch. When Carlos and Gaby want to visit the Bolens to apologize, they accidentally catch a conversation between Angie and Nick in which the two argue and say that their cover should not be exposed under any circumstances. Ana and Danny Bolen become a couple, but this is not tolerated by either side of the adults. Gaby tries to separate the two with a trick in which she supports Ana's desire to become a model and signs her up with an agency in New York. At first it seems as if her plan succeeds, but a short time later Robin Gallagher informs Danny about Gaby's plan and follows Ana to New York. When Gaby and Angie Bolen visit the two of them, Angie tells her that Danny's father is not Nick Bolen, but a man named Patrick Logan. Gaby later agrees to donate her eggs to Lee and Bob so they can have children, but changes his mind, which leads to the separation of the two. When Mike borrows money from Carlos, Gaby tells Susan. Gaby helps Angie by picking Nick up from the hospital so that Nick can rescue Angie and Danny, who are being held hostage by Patrick Logan.
  • Katherine struggles to maintain her composure after Susan and Mike remarry. She is very angry with Susan and seems to be in denial about everything that happened. She tells Orson and Bree that Mike would come back to her because he would soon find out that the wedding to Susan was a mistake. When she makes a huge scene at a wedding planned by Bree's company because Bree used her design for her wedding cake (for marrying Mike), Bree fires her. When Susan accidentally shoots her while sneaking around Susan's house, she begins to blackmail Susan, but Mike does not return to her. When she no longer sees a way to win Mike over, she wounds herself with a knife and blames Mike. While she is in the hospital, her daughter Dylan, who received a call from Susan, comes to visit because she believes Katherine is in urgent need of therapeutic help. It turns out that Katherine had pretended to her daughter that Mike had married her and not told Susan and her about her life with Mike and all the gifts Mike supposedly gave her. When Dylan comes up to Susan angrily and accuses her of deliberately destroying her mother's happiness, Susan tells her the truth. When Dylan confronts her mother with her lies, Katherine has a nervous breakdown and goes to a mental hospital for a while. She is later convinced by Karen, Bree, Lynette, Gaby, and Susan that they have all forgiven her, and is persuaded to return to Wisteria Lane. She quickly befriends Robin Gallagher, the stripper who helped Susan to become her new roommate. Robin soon admits that she is a lesbian and kisses her. This leads to Katherine becoming confused about her own feelings and starting to have sexual dreams with Robin. She asks Robin to move out, but changes her mind that evening, and the two sleep together. For a long time, Katherine struggles with her feelings, although she and Robin notice that the two have a deep connection to each other. Ultimately, the two of them get together when Katherine involuntarily reveals to the entire neighborhood that she had sex with Robin. On Karen's advice, the two leave Wisteria Lane to avoid gossip and to work on the relationship.
  • The new housewife Angie Bolen, her husband Nick and their son Danny hope to settle down on Wisteria Lane. It quickly turns out that the family has a lot of secrets and has changed names very often. In the first episode you can see that Angie has a very large scar on her back, probably a burn. Danny is initially suspected of choking Julie Mayer, with whom Nick Bolen is having an affair. The Bolens have suffered a lot of hostility from their neighbors as a result. Since Danny is mentally unstable, he tries to commit suicide, which can be prevented by his mother. At the hospital, he tells the nurse Mona Clark that his real name is Tyler. The Bolens are then blackmailed by Mona. But she dies in the plane crash, and the Bolens' secret is kept for the first time. Danny and Ana begin a relationship, which, however, is not accepted by either the Bolens or the Solis. Danny follows Ana to New York after learning the truth about Ana's move from Robin. He visits his biological grandmother, Rose de Luca, and finds shelter with her. Angie, who followed him to New York with Gaby, also visits her mother. While visiting her mother, a neighbor of Rose finds out that Angie is Rose's daughter. She then contacts a man named Patrick Logan and gives him the Bolens' new address for a fee, but is then killed by him in her apartment. It is later revealed that it is not Nick who is Danny's biological father, but Patrick. Patrick is now on his way to Fairview, as he obviously still has some bills with the Bolens. First he establishes contact with his son, who now works in a café. A short time later he drives the car over to Nick so that he has to be taken to the hospital. He then takes Angie and Danny hostage. He forces Angie to build a bomb and hides it. Angie manages to ask Gaby for help and quickly finds out where Patrick is hiding the bomb. She manages to trick Patrick, so that he is ultimately killed by the bomb. Angie and Nick decide to go to Atlanta, leaving Danny in New York as they are still on the run from the police.

The secret

Angie Bolen dropped out and joined a group of eco-terrorists. During the time she fell in love with Patrick Logan, the leader of the group, but Patrick only used her and her knowledge to make her make a bomb for him. A man was killed by the bomb and Angie burned her back. Since then she has been on the run from Patrick Logan, the biological father of Danny, with the help of the then investigating officer, Nick Bolen, who was later passed off as Danny's biological father.

The Fairview Strangler

The first shown victim of the strangler is Julie Mayer, who survived the attack. The next victim, Emily, a waitress at "The coffee cup", does not survive the attack. In the 19th episode it turns out that the strangler is Eddie Orlofsky, a good friend of Danny and Porter. The flashback episode The Creation of a Monster shows how Eddie became a murderer, what his motives are and that each of the housewives had to do with him at some point. He is shown killing his alcoholic mother after she found out that Eddie was responsible for the murders and attacks on young women in the area. In this episode, he also strangles an unknown prostitute because she laughed at him because he wanted to give her flowers. He is also the killer of Irina, Preston's ex-fiance, and another unknown woman. It also turns out that Eddie wanted to kill Susan rather than Julie, but he mistook the two and attacked Julie while she was taking out the trash. When he holds Lynette hostage and with his help she gives birth to her daughter Paige, Lynette can convince him to face the police.

Seventh season

The housewives

  • Susan and Mike are struggling with financial problems. Driven by debt, they have to rent the house on Wisteria Lane and temporarily move into a small apartment. Unknowingly, and to everyone's surprise, the house is rented by Paul, who has been released from prison. For lack of money, Susan is driven by her landlady Maxine to enter the adult industry and offer webcam shows over the Internet. Although Susan tries to hide her secret from the public as much as possible, Paul soon finds out. Knowing this, he tries to blackmail Susan into selling her house to him. For this reason Susan also loses her job as a teacher, because Paul tells parents of her students about her part-time job. Mike gets an offer for a job in Alaska, and Lynette offers Susan a job as a nanny. Both take these jobs. Susan is also the first to learn that Tom Scavo and Renee Perry had a brief affair over 20 years ago. During the uprising, she is trampled in the crowd and suffers kidney damage. As a result, she now has to wait regularly for dialysis and a donor kidney. Her daughter Julie is being tested but is not a suitable donor. While visiting her mother and aunt, Susan learns that her mother has cancer. She later finds a suitable kidney: Beths. Since Paul still has hope for Beth, he doesn't want to hand this over to Susan at first. After much deliberation, however, Paul decides to leave Susan Beth's kidney. Susan's operation is successful. A little later, she has nightmares in which she has passionate sex with Paul. She takes care of him by starting to cook him food and the nightmares go away. Felicia, who still wants to get revenge on Paul, notices this. From now on she helps Susan to prepare the food for Paul, always adding small portions of antifreeze to the food. When Paul collapses, he finds out that he is being poisoned. At first he thinks Susan is guilty, but she and Mike convince him that Felicia and not Susan poisoned him. As an apology for his behavior, he moves out of the house so that Susan and her family can move in again. Susan saves Paul from Felicia and convinces him to do the right thing, which for Paul means that he pleads guilty for the murder of Martha Huber.
  • Lynette has another child, Paige Scavo. She feels very overwhelmed about it, but her daughter Penny offers her help. When the situation gets out of hand and Penny takes the baby to school, Lynette realizes she needs help. She asks Tom for a nanny . Since Susan lost her job as a teacher, Lynette hires her. Meanwhile, Tom is plagued by postpartum depression, which he tries to resolve with medical marijuana . Lynette and Renee start an interior design company together. Lynette later learns of the brief affair Renee and Tom had over 20 years ago, but quickly reconciles with Renee. At Lynette's urging, Tom quits Carlos and takes a very well-paying job. As a result, he is often out and about, and the two are becoming increasingly estranged. During a weekend trip, which was actually meant to calm things down again and to reconcile, Tom leaves Lynette. On the day of the celebration of Susan's return to her old house, however, the two speak out. Lynette admits, however, that she was relieved when he left her, which leads to the final separation of the two.
  • Bree has to get used to being single after moving out and divorcing Orson. She finds her handyman Keith Watson attractive, but the age difference initially discourages her from taking any further steps. When Renee also expresses an interest in the same man, Bree's instincts are awakened and a competitive battle begins. Bree wins Keith over and the two become a couple. Renee can forgive her and the two become friends. Keith's father also develops an interest in Bree, but this finally decides in favor of Keith, whereupon he moves in with her. It later emerges that Keith has a son. When he moves, Keith misses him so much that Bree breaks up with him so he can be with his son. Bree also organizes blood tests for the neighbors to find a suitable kidney for Susan. It turns out that both she and Beth are eligible donors. Bree wants to be the donor for Susan, but Beth beats her by shooting herself in the emergency room. Bree later finds out that Andrew is an alcoholic and that his husband Alex left him. As part of the meeting against his alcohol addiction, Andrew Carlos finally wants to tell the truth about the death of Carlos' mother. Carlos forgives Andrew because he was still a child at the time, but not Bree, who helped cover up the matter, and ends her friendship. He forbids Gaby to interact with Bree. However, Gaby disregards this ban, so that after an argument with Carlos, she and her two children move in temporarily with Bree. However, Bree is able to convince her to go back to Carlos and accepts that she will no longer be friends. When Bree helps the two of them cover up Gaby's stepfather's murder, Carlos and Bree make up again. Bree also meets the cop Chuck. Despite initial difficulties, the two become a couple.
  • Gabrielle and Carlos' family life is disrupted when they are told that midwife Teresa Pruitt has switched her daughter Juanita with another child. While Carlos does not want to get in touch with the parents of her biological daughter, Gaby cannot cope with being in the dark who her biological daughter is. She ensures that there is contact with her daughter's parents. Shortly thereafter, the first meeting with the Sanchez family and their daughter Grace followed. Gaby is immediately charmed by Grace and slowly begins to prefer her to Juanita. It turns out that the Sanchez family is illegal in America and must leave the country. At first Gaby tries to keep Grace with her, but then gives in and lets Grace go with her parents with a heavy heart. Meanwhile, Juanita discovers that Grace is really Gaby and Carlos' daughter, not her. An argument ensues, as a result of which Juanita runs away. In the run-up to the big uprising in the neighborhood, she hides in Bob and Lee's car. When this is attacked by the angry mob, Carlos and Gaby can save Juanita in time, and so the family is reconciled again. Carlos realizes that Gaby needs help and sends her to therapy, where Gaby can mainly deal with her unhappy childhood. A little later, Andrew confesses to Carlos that he knocked down his mother and committed hit-and-run. Carlos then forbids Gaby to continue seeing Bree. The two continue to meet secretly, however, Carlos finds out and a fight ensues, in which Carlos gives them a choice. Gaby first decides in favor of Bree and moves in with her with her two children. However, Bree can convince Gaby to return to her husband, and the friendship between the two is therefore on hold for the time being. A little later Gaby finds out that she is being followed by her stepfather Alejandro, who she assumed is dead. She uses a pistol to force him to admit that he raped her before and tells him that he should never come back. However, he returns, breaks into her house and tells her that he took her gun. When Carlos comes home, he kills Alejandro with a candlestick, and they discover that he is unarmed. Carlos is scared of going to jail for killing an unarmed man. Together with Susan, Lynette and Bree they cover up his death, as a result Carlos forgives Bree.
  • Renee Perry is Lynette Scavo's former college girlfriend. Her often cynical and arrogant statements cause problems with Bree and Gaby, among others. The problems between the women can be resolved, however, and Renee befriends the two. With Bree she vies for the favor of the craftsman Keith. But Renee gives up and the two make up. She moves into Edie Britt's old house because she has cheated on her husband Doug and she feels comfortable with the housewives. Renee and Lynette set up an interior design company and get their first contract thanks to Susan's help. After dating Susan and getting pretty drunk, she tells him that over 20 years ago she had an affair with Tom Scavo, whom she still mourns because she thinks he is the perfect man. Susan makes her confess to Lynette. At first she is beside herself, but the two can reconcile again very quickly. After Beth's suicide, she gets a lot of criticism from people in the neighborhood for not wanting to cancel a long-planned celebration. When Gaby gets to the bottom of the matter, she learns that Renee's mother also committed suicide. Shortly before the celebration for Susan's re-entry, she learns that her ex-husband Doug will remarry, which makes her very unhappy.

The secret

Paul returns to Wisteria Lane. He was released from prison after Felicia Tilman, who had only faked her death to get Paul to prison, was stopped and reviewed by police for frenzy. After Felicia is in jail, Paul confesses to her to have committed the murder of her sister, but only with lip movements, so that only Felicia could see. To everyone's amazement, Paul also has a new wife: Beth. In the beginning their relationship is purely platonic, as Beth admits that she is still a virgin and is also very dismissive towards him. In reality, however, Beth is the daughter of Felicia Tilman, who she set on Paul to get revenge on him. Gradually, however, Beth develops feelings for Paul, which leads to Beth turning her mother against her. Back in his old street, Paul is now looking for revenge. As a result of the unjustly spent years in prison, he received a high severance payment with which he is now trying to buy all the houses in Wisteria Lane in order to open a center for the rehabilitation of prisoners. This approach met with great rejection from the rest of the residents of Wisteria Lane. Paul bought enough houses to carry out his plan. When the mayor is about to award him for special achievements, a big riot breaks out on the street. The evening after the riot, Paul is shot. At first it remains unclear who the perpetrator is. When Paul finds out through the police in the hospital that Beth is Felicia's daughter, he first assumes that she shot him and wants to get revenge on her. However, he later realizes that it was not Beth but his son Zach who wounded him. Ultimately he confesses to Beth that he killed Martha Huber, but she doesn't want to believe him. When Beth later visits her mother in prison, she realizes that Beth has fallen in love with Paul and rejects her. Beth learns that she is a suitable donor for Susan, who needs a kidney. Desperate, she shoots herself in the head with a pistol in the emergency room and dies. After a moment's hesitation, Susan receives her kidney. Since Beth has died, Felicia is released from prison and seeks other ways to harm Paul. First she tries to win his trust by pretending to want to bury Beth's ashes by scattering the ashes in a place where Beth used to like to be. However, she does not scatter her daughter's ashes with Paul, but rather picks them up in an urn and talks with them from then on. Your new plan is to poison Paul. To do this, she mixes antifreeze into the meals Susan cooks for Paul. After Paul collapses, he realizes he was poisoned and first suspects Susan. However, with Mike's help, she can prove her innocence. As an excuse for his behavior, he moves out of Susan's house. But shortly before he finally leaves Wisteria Lane, he is knocked down by Felicia. She then tortures Paul by tying him up and giving him an infusion of antifreeze, which is supposed to slowly kill him. Meanwhile, Paul confesses to her to have killed Martha Huber, much to the delight of Felicias, who records his confession on tape. Susan, who came to her house to please her son, discovers Paul and is able to save him. Paul then chokes Felicia, but Susan convinces him to let her go, believing he is not a murderer. When the police called by Susan arrive, Paul confesses to Martha Huber's murder and is taken away. Meanwhile, Felicia is on the run with her daughter's ashes. She dies shortly afterwards when she knocks over the urn and rushes into a truck because her view was blocked by the air conditioning blowing up the ashes.

Eighth season

The housewives

  • Gabrielle and Carlos try to suppress the traumatic night. However, it is especially difficult for Carlos to forget everything that makes him addicted to alcohol. He realizes that he has a problem and begins withdrawal. After successfully surviving the withdrawal, however, he no longer wants to work in his old job and quits. He then starts a job as an addiction counselor, which is why he earns a lot less money than before. Then Gaby starts to work. She becomes an employee in a noble fashion boutique, where she earns a multiple of Carlos, which Carlos initially displeases. However, he can come to terms with it. A year after Bree's trial, the two left Wisteria Lane and moved to California. With the help of Carlos, Gaby develops an online shop that is doing so well that she gets her own program on a home shopping channel.
  • Tom and Lynette try to keep their separation a secret from the children, but that doesn't work for long. Tom is moving out of the common house where Lynette and the children are staying. Tom meets Jane a little later and begins a relationship with her, much to Lynette's displeasure. Tom's relationship with Jane becomes more serious when Tom asks Jane to move in with him. Despite the breakup, Lynette tells Tom about her deed when Chuck exerts powerful pressure on the four friends. Tom lets Bob in because he thinks they need a lawyer. Over time, however, Lynette realizes that she wants Tom back, and tries to get him back. She meets with Tom's boss Gregg a few times, which leads to him influencing Tom's work hours so that he can no longer spend as much time with Jane. However, when Tom is about to be transferred to Mumbai, Lynette backs off. As a result, Gregg provokes Tom so much that Tom knocks his boss down with his fist and then loses his job. However, he realizes that he still loves Lynette and breaks up with Jane. As a result of Bree's trial, the two come back together. Lynette is offered a job in New York by Katherine, who is now a successful business woman in Europe and who is briefly returning to Wisteria Lane. On the side, Katherine also says that she broke up with Robin. After a moment's hesitation, Lynette accepts the job. For this reason, Tom and Lynette move to New York, four weeks after the trial, to a penthouse overlooking Central Park . It is shown that both of them will later have six grandchildren.
  • Susan processes the events of the night with art. She begins a drawing course with a respected painter. For a long time, however, he underestimated Susan's abilities. Susan processes her feelings in different pictures, all of which show the course of events. An art critic becomes aware of these pictures and exhibits them without Susan's consent. These images give Chuck a crucial clue as to what really happened that night. Susan also tells Mike about the murder. Meanwhile, he helps Ben, who hired him in his company, to get the corpse out of the forest and make it disappear somewhere else. After Susan visited the relatives of Alejandro in Oklahoma on her own, she found out that Alejandro had also molested his current stepdaughter. The two also learn that Alejandro is dead. Mike later learns that Ben wants to borrow money from shady men, and can prevent that at first. However, after Ben accepts the money from the loan shark and Renee is dragged into the whole thing, Mike tries to defend them. As a result, he is shot by the loan shark in front of Susan's eyes. It also turns out that Susan's daughter Julie is pregnant. The father of the unborn child is Porter Scavo. Julie initially wants to put the child up for adoption immediately after the birth, but ultimately decides to keep the baby after meeting Mike's autistic sister, who lives in a nursing home and whose existence even Mike did not know for a long time. Shortly after Julie had her baby, Susan sold her house and left Wisteria Lane with Julie and MJ to support their daughter during her studies.
  • Bree seems to be getting along best with the events at first. She separates from Chuck because she sees the danger that Chuck will find out everything. After the separation, the latter begins to do thorough research. Susan's pictures confirm his theory and put the housewives under great pressure. However, just before he can file charges, Chuck is hit by a car and dies.
Meanwhile, Bree and her friends become increasingly alienated, which culminates in Bree wanting to take her own life. However, she can be stopped at the last minute by Renee. Bree is starting to drink again and has numerous one-night stands. She meets Orson, who saves her from an intrusive admirer. It turns out that Orson wants Bree all to himself and secretly created the estrangement between the friends. Also, since Orson has been following Bree the whole time, he knows about Alejandro's murder. It also turns out that it was he who killed Chuck. When Bree finds out everything and breaks off contact with him, Orson plans a campaign of revenge and sends all his knowledge of the murder in a letter to the Fairview Police. After delivering the letter, he disappears and presumably commits suicide. In return, Bree reconciles with her friends. However, Bree is arrested because of Orson's letter, who incriminates her for the murder of Alejandro. In order for the police to justify an arrest of Bree, Chuck's former partner, who believes Bree killed Chuck, forges evidence incriminating Bree. Bree is then able to convince star lawyer Trip Weston to take over her case. After Bree's acquittal, the two become a couple and get married. Two years after their trial, the two move to Louisville , where Bree joins a conservative women's club. Trip also persuades her to go into local politics. She is elected to the Kentucky Senate a year later .
  • Renee has her eye on new neighbor Ben, and the two will soon become a couple. Since Ben borrowed a lot of money from the loan shark and therefore has difficulty paying it back, he sees the only solution to marry Renee, as she is very wealthy. However, he gets scruples and confesses it to Renee, whereupon she separates from him. The two make up quickly when Ben is admitted to the hospital because of health problems caused by the pressure the loan shark puts on him. Renee pays Ben's debts, but is then massively threatened by the loan shark because he smells more money. The loan shark is evicted from Renee's apartment by Mike. She and Ben get engaged and get married.

The secret

After Gaby's stepfather Alejandro tries to rape her again, Carlos kills him with a candlestick. In order to cover up the crime and not have to go to jail, the two confess to their friends Bree, Lynette and Susan, and all five decide to bury Alejandro in the forest. The special thing about this season is that for the first time during the season the housewives don't have to find out a secret, but rather that they want to keep the secret from the others. Little by little, Mike, Ben, Tom and Bob also find out about it. The police are also getting closer and closer to clearing up the case. However, Detective Chuck Vance, with whom Bree had a brief relationship, is knocked over by a person in a car and dies shortly before he can file charges. As it later turns out, Orson was the driver of the car. Orson, who has been secretly following Bree the whole time, also knows what happened that night. He also learns important details from Bree. However, when she left him because she found out he was stalking her, he passed on all of his knowledge in a letter to the Fairview police. As a result, Bree is interrogated. The clues in the letter also reveal Alejandro's body, on which Bree's fingerprints can be found. When the trial of Bree begins, Bree's chances of an acquittal seem very good until the prosecution presents her suicide note to the court as evidence and she loses a great deal of her credibility. Her chances turn and she is close to being sentenced. First, Gaby wants to take the blame, as Carlos already has a criminal record, but it doesn't come to that. Karen McCluskey, who has returned with cancer, takes it all and takes the blame, but is not convicted of her serious illness. She dies shortly after Bree's trial.

Either they all play on the same day, show special moments with one person or something else. The flashbacks are often used to break up the relay secret.

The eleventh episode of the sixth season does not show flashbacks as a special feature, but insights into a possible future. There the housewives ask themselves "What if ..." questions.

Broadcasting history and audience ratings

The series achieved high ratings in the United States . In Germany, the series was advertised by ProSieben as the successor to the HBO series Sex and the City , which expired in 2004, for marketing reasons , although the two series do not build on each other in terms of content.

From August 2006 to April 2007 an adaptation ran on the Argentine television station Canal 13 , in co-production by Buena Vista International and Pol-Ka with the name Amas de Casa Desesperadas .

Desperate Housewives was inspired by the film American Beauty with Kevin Spacey , which also shows what negative things can be hidden behind a normal household .

First season

The US launch on the ABC station took place on October 3, 2004. The synchronized German version of the series has been broadcast weekly since April 4, 2005 on SRF two (in two-channel technology ), on ORF one (also in two-channel sound) April 2005 broadcast on ProSieben . The original version had already been shown on the pay TV channel Sky (at the time it was premiered). In the US, the first season had up to 30.62 million viewers. Up to 3.61 million people watched in Germany.

Second season

The second season of the series was shown on free TV from September 2006 to February 2007 on SRF two and ORF one. ProSieben followed suit and broadcast the second season on Tuesdays between September 12, 2006 and February 27, 2007. The second season was broadcast on Sky seven months earlier from February to August 2006 in two-channel sound. The odds fell slightly in the second season. The season premiere had 28.36 million viewers in the US; in Germany only up to 2.27 million people watched.

Third season

The third season started on September 24, 2006 in the USA and ended on May 20, 2007. The Swiss broadcaster SRF Zwei and the Austrian broadcaster ORF eins showed the third season beginning on March 5, 2007. March to November 28, 2007, right after the second season.
The second part of the third season started on ProSieben on September 5th at 8:15 p.m., so the housewives got a new slot on Wednesday. The ORF had already interrupted the broadcast since May 21, 2007 and continued it on September 10, 2007, while SRF Zwei did not take a break and the third season broadcast on August 13, 2007 to the end. The quotas in the US fell even further. A total of 24.09 million viewers saw the season premiere. The low point of the season was 15.63 million viewers ( God, That's Good ). In Germany, the quotas rose again. Up to 2.35 million viewers saw the third season there.

Fourth season

On September 30, 2007, the fourth season of the series started on American television on ABC. The Swiss broadcaster SRF Zwei started broadcasting on February 11, 2008. In Austria, the series was also broadcast on ORF eins from February 11, 2008. In Germany, the first nine episodes of the fourth season were broadcast on ProSieben from February 13, 2008. The remaining eight episodes were broadcast at the same time starting October 22, 2008. The fourth season has only 17 episodes due to the writers' strike. The writers went back to work on February 12, 2008 after the strike ended and produced seven more episodes of the ten episodes at the time.

The fourth season ended in the US on May 18, 2008 with the episode Free . In the US, Tornado , originally Something's Coming , was the most successful episode of the fourth season. 20.65 million viewers saw the tornado episode there.

In Germany, too, the tornado episode achieved the best ratings for 3 years. You could count 2.43 million 14 to 49 year old viewers. That meant a market share of 19.1 percent.

With the end of the fourth season, some actors were released from their contracts. These included Rachel G. Fox , Andrea Bowen , Brent and Shane Kinsman, and Zane Huett .

Fifth season

On September 28th, 2008 the fifth season started in America, which makes a time jump of 5 years. The Scavo children were re-cast for the fifth season (Preston and Porter: Max and Charlie Carver , Parker: Joshua Logan Moore, Penny: Kendall Applegate). Edie returns to Wisteria Lane with a new man, played by Neal McDonough . Andrea Bowen and Joy Lauren were no longer in the main cast or side cast in the fifth season, but had a few guest appearances. The fifth season of Desperate Housewives started in Switzerland on January 5, 2009. As usual, it was shown on Mondays on Swiss broadcaster SRF Zwei. ORF eins showed these episodes starting on January 12, 2009 at their regular place in Monday prime time. In Germany, the broadcast began on January 14, 2009, as usual on Wednesday evening at 8:15 p.m. on ProSieben.

Because the dubbed versions from episode 14 were not available in time, only the first 13 episodes were broadcast in spring 2009. As a result, the last episode was broadcast on SRF two and ORF one on April 6, on ProSieben on April 8, 2009. Part 2 with episodes 14 to 24 of the fifth season was broadcast from September to November 2009 on SRF two, ORF one and ProSieben broadcast.

Sixth season

The sixth season ran from September 27, 2009 on ABC. ProSieben began broadcasting the sixth season on January 13, 2010 with a double episode. The Swiss broadcaster SRF Zwei and the Austrian broadcaster ORF Eins began broadcasting the start of the sixth season on January 11, 2010. After episode 12, all three channels took a summer break. SRF Zwei began broadcasting the remaining twelve episodes on September 13, 2010. ORF Eins followed on October 4, 2010. The remaining episodes were shown on ProSieben from October 13 to December 22, 2010.

Seventh season

The seventh season started on ABC on September 26, 2010 and ended on May 15, 2011 with a double episode. On January 10, 2011, the season started as a German-language first broadcast on both SRF two and ORF one. ProSieben began broadcasting the seventh season on January 12, 2011. After episode 13, all three channels took a summer break. The seventh season continued from August 24 to October 26, 2011 with the broadcast of the ten missing episodes. The broadcast on SRF two and ORF one ended on October 24, 2011.

Eighth season

The eighth season started on September 25, 2011 on ABC and ended on May 13, 2012 with a two-hour series finale. From January 4 to March 21, 2012, the first 13 episodes of the final eighth season ran on ProSieben. The remaining ten episodes were shown on ProSieben from August 29 to September 26, 2012 in double episodes. The first broadcast on SRF Zwei and ORF eins was already on January 2, 2012, although there was also a break in broadcasting in the summer.

With the eighth season, Jonathan Cake , whose character was introduced in the seventh season, and Madison De La Garza , who has played the first-born daughter of the Solis since the finale of the fourth season, were added to the "leading actor squad". Cake was only part of the main cast up to episode 9, as his character dies the series death, but Charles Mesure , whose character was introduced at the beginning of the eighth season, was promoted from episode 11 from the supporting role to the lead role.

Trivia

  • Bree is the only one of the four main characters who did not have a child during the series' plot period. Her actress Marcia Cross, however, was the only one of the four actresses who became pregnant during the series run and therefore was the only one not to be seen in all 180 episodes.
  • The first concept for the series was offered to the five largest broadcasters in the United States and rejected by them. The revision was initially rejected by several broadcasters until ABC secured the rights to the program.
  • Marc Cherry's wish was to win Calista Flockhart , Heather Locklear , Mary-Louise Parker or Courteney Cox for the role of Susan. Cox was interested but was pregnant at the time.
  • In the casting, older actresses were explicitly sought. Eva Longoria was actually too young at 29, so her role was adapted accordingly.
  • In the series, Longoria's character Gaby has an affair with the underage gardener John, played by Jesse Metcalfe . In truth, though, Metcalf is only three years younger than Longoria.
  • The original titles of the episodes, with the exception of the pilot episode, are based on the music titles of the musical composer Stephen Sondheim .
  • According to producer Marc Cherry, the character of Bree Van de Kamp was created almost entirely after the example of his mother during his teenage years.
  • Cherry also created the figure of Lynette Scavo based on the model of his mother, but this figure is based on his childhood memories.
  • Cherry's original plan was to get Kathrine and Mike married at the beginning of the sixth season. However, since most of the fans were hoping for Susan and Mike to get married again, Cherry rewrote this episode.
  • The only two episodes that are not told off-screen by Brenda Strong as Mary Alice Young are episodes 3x16 Men Are Pigs , which is narrated by Steven Culp , and episode 5x19 The Final Resting , in which Nicollette Sheridan comments from off-screen .
  • Before Touchstone put the series on ABC , Sheryl Lee played the role of Mary Alice Young in the pilot , the gardener John was played by Kyle Searles and Rex Van de Kamp by Michael Reilly Burke. Lee has been replaced by Brenda Strong. Both had previously played roles as "Dead", Strong in Everwood and Lee in Twin Peaks .
  • The houses of the housewives have already been seen in the productions Deep Impact and My Devilish Neighbors . Bree's house was also featured in the NBC drama series Providence from 1999 to 2002.
  • The production of the fourth season was suspended from November 5, 2007 to February 12, 2008 due to the writers' strike of the WGA . From mid-February 2008 new episodes were shot again.
  • The role of Renee Perry was written especially for Vanessa Williams , as she was under contract with ABC for two years after the end of Ugly Betty .
  • The character Karen McCluskey dies of lung cancer in the series finale . Shortly after the episode was broadcast on American television, the actress in the role, Kathryn Joosten , also died of the disease.
  • Marc Cherry, the idea provider , screenwriter and producer of the series, made a cameo as Susan Delfino's movers in the final episode of Season 8 .
