Ellen Geer

Ellen Ware Geer (born August 29, 1941 in New York City ) is an American theater and film actress .

Life

Ellen Geer was born in New York City in 1941 as the daughter of the actors and actresses Herta Ware and Will Geer . Through her parents, she came into contact with acting at an early age. In 1956 she was the elf in a production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream for the first time on a theater stage. Other roles in New York theaters followed, including the role of Desdemona in Othello and Rosalinde in As You Like It .

From 1968 she also played in front of the film camera, among others with her father in the comedy Der Gauner ( The Reivers , 1969) and in Harold and Maude ( Harold and Maude , 1971). From 1971 to 1972 she played the daughter of James Stewart in 24 episodes of The Jimmy Stewart Show . Since then she has appeared in numerous other US series, including The Streets of San Francisco ( The Streets of San Francisco , 1977), Charlie's Angels ( Charlie's Angels , 1979), Dallas (1979-1989), Quincy ( Quincy , ME , 1983), The Model and the Snoop ( Moonlighting , 1986), Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Generation ( Star Trek: The Next Generation , 1991), Emergency Room - Die Notaufnahme ( ER , 2003) and Desperate Housewives (2007– 2012).

After the death of her father in 1978, she took over the management of the family-owned open-air theater Theatricum Botanicum, which is located in Topanga Canyon, California . Over the years she has appeared as an actress and director for numerous theater performances, such as Endstation Sehnsucht by Tennessee Williams .

Her first marriage was from 1963 to 1968 with the actor Ed Flanders . A son emerged from this connection. She has two daughters with her second husband, the musician Peter Alsop.

At the Method Fest Independent Film Festival in 2007, Ellen Geer and the entire cast of Man in the Chair won the award for best ensemble.
