Practice - The Lawyers is an American justice series by David E. Kelley .
A total of eight seasons were produced between 1997 and 2004. The series started with the leading actors Dylan McDermott , Lisa Gay Hamilton , Steve Harris , Camryn Manheim and Kelli Williams . With the conclusion of the seventh season, McDermott, Williams and Hamilton were replaced by James Spader and Rhona Mitra .
Since its inception, the series has won 15 Emmys and three Golden Globes, among others .

The series describes everyday life in the young law firm Donnell, Young, Dole and Frutt , and later Young, Frutt and Berluti in Boston , which specializes in US criminal law .
In addition to suspected murderers, drug dealers and rapists, clients also include previously inconspicuous people, such as a 13-year-old boy who shoots his mother out of anger that he is not allowed to go on a camping trip, or an 11-year-old who shoots his crazy father kills to free his mother from terror.

Broadcasts in Germany
ProSieben only broadcast the first four seasons in Germany. From June 5 to September 25, 2000, only 79 out of a total of 168 episodes were shown. The 3rd and 4th seasons under the title Objection! - Donnell & Partner law firm broadcast. From May 2001 to June 2002, kabel eins repeated all 57 episodes of the first three seasons. Since May 20, 2008, the pay-TV broadcaster FOX Channel has been repeating the first three seasons of the series. According to the FOX Channel, the rights to broadcast only the first three seasons have been acquired. From March 5 to June 4, 2010, Kabel Eins broadcast the final eighth season every Friday at 11:15 p.m. or later at 00:15 a.m. As a result of bad ratings on Friday evening, the broadcast of the new episodes was canceled after 13 episodes. In early 2010 it was announced that FOX Channel now has the rights to seasons four through seven. These were broadcast from April 19, 2010. The 5th and 6th seasons were shown for the first time in German, while the seventh season was not shown.
From June 14 to July 5, 2011, the eighth season from the beginning was broadcast on 9Live . Episodes 14 to 22 of the eighth season were broadcast in German for the first time. Then the eighth season was repeated several times until broadcasting was stopped. This means that the seventh season remains the only one that has not yet been broadcast in German.
Offshoot
Boston Legal is an offshoot of the series. Boston Legal was introduced in the eighth season of Practice with the last seven episodes. In Boston Legal, the actors James Spader and Rhona Mitra and their roles were taken. The roles of Denny Crane and Sally Heep were also introduced in these final episodes.
DVD
The first 13 episodes have been available on DVD in the US & Australia since June 2007. The DVD box is available under the title Volume One .
In the UK, the first and second seasons were released on DVD on February 27, 2012.
From January 2014, the series will gradually be released on DVD via Studiocanal in Germany.
From January 2014 to March 2014, volumes 1 to 3 were published, which together correspond to seasons 1 and 2. After about two years, seasons 3 and 4 (this time not as a volume) will be released on January 21, 2016. The final 8th season will be released on April 7, 2016. This means that seasons 5 and 6, which were previously only shown on PayTV, and Season 7, which have never been broadcast on German TV (neither PayTV nor FreeTV), are still missing. When asked by Studiocanal, it was announced that they do not have the rights to seasons 5 to 7.
