Chyler Leigh West (born April 10, 1982 in Charlotte , North Carolina as Chyler Leigh Potts ) is an American actress , singer and model .
Life
At the age of twelve she started modeling for magazines and catalogs. Between the ages of 16 and 17, she starred in a number of American series such as Saving Graces , Safe Harbor, and A Heavenly Family . She made her film debut in 2001 in Not Another Teenage Film .
In 2002 she was voted number 41 of the “102 Sexiest Women in the World” in Stuff magazine.
From summer 2007 to 2012 she was in the role of assistant doctor Dr. Alexandra "Lexie" Caroline Gray seen on the television series Grey's Anatomy . In spring 2014 she starred alongside Jacky Ido in the French-American comedy Taxi Brooklyn, which was broadcast on NBC . Since October 2015 she has played Alex Danvers , the sister of the title character, in Supergirl .
Family and personal life
On July 20, 2002, she married the actor Nathan West , with whom she has three children. Their son was born in December 2003 and their daughter in September 2006. On May 7, 2009, their third child, another girl, was born.
Her brother is the actor Christopher Khayman Lee .
In June 2020, Leigh came out as queer .
