Jessica Brooke Capshaw (born August 9, 1976 in Columbia , Missouri ) is an American actress .

Life

Jessica Capshaw is the only child from the marriage of actress Kate Capshaw and sales representative Robert Capshaw. Her parents divorced in 1979 when Jessica was three years old and her mother was given custody. On October 12, 1991, her mother married director Steven Spielberg .

In 1993, at the age of 17, Capshaw was a production intern at Schindler's List . This is her only work behind the camera so far. In 1998 she graduated from Brown University , one of the eight Ivy League universities, with a degree in English . She then graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London .

Jessica Capshaw has been in front of the camera since 1997. Her best-known films include Scream If You Can from 2001 and Minority Report (2002), directed by her stepfather. Jessica also plays the ex-girlfriend of Agent Seeley Booth in the series Bones .

Between 2002 and 2004 she was also a member of the regular cast of the television series Practice - The Lawyers . From the fifth through the fourteenth season finale of the television series Grey's Anatomy , she appears as the pediatric surgeon Arizona Robbins . Capshaw starred as Nadia Karella at the beginning of the fourth season of The L Word series.

Jessica Capshaw has a son and three daughters with husband Christopher Gavigan.
