The Visitation is an American mystery - horror film from the year 2006. The story is based on a novel by Frank E. Peretti .

In the small town of Antioch, a tall, blond man in black clothes appears and announces the return of the master. Suddenly inexplicable things happen. Veterinarian Morgan's son survived a serious car accident unharmed. The caretaker of a church no longer has a problem with his knee when he touches the tears of Jesus crucified . Former pastor Travis' dog rises from the grave. A wheelchair user can walk again. A police officer displaces his brain tumor . The mysterious Brandon Nichols seems to be involved in all phenomena. He sees himself as Jesus Christ. He even wants to bring to life the wife of the former clergyman who was murdered three years ago. But Travis has doubts and begins to investigate together with Morgan.

While the residents of Antioch are celebrating their new savior, Travis discovers a photo in the investigation files into the murder of his wife that shows the mysterious blonde. A pickup takes him and Morgan to a scrap dealer who gives them an address. There they find an abandoned hut. Newspaper clippings that have been painted over with black paint hang on one wall.

While Travis is talking to Brandon, Morgan sees a strange construction made of beams and barbed wire in another room of the house. Now the mood is gradually changing. Brandon proves himself an ally of the devil and human suffering returns. Some residents are infested with evil demons that need to be driven out.

When Travis and Morgan take Darlene, who was injured by Brandon, to the hospital, they analyze the newspaper clipping with a computer tomography and discover the background to the case. The Reverend Cantwell molested his son Justin, who asked Travis for help at the time. Feeling misunderstood, he turned to the dark forces and now returns as Brandon Nichols to find a new victim before a three-year period expires. At the last moment, Travis uses a Bible to prevent Justin from killing Morgan. Instead, Justin dies and Travis is again active as a clergyman at his funeral.
