Edward Walter Furlong (born August 2, 1977 in Glendale , California ) is an American actor .

life and career

Edward Furlong is the son of youth worker Elenor Torres. He is of Mexican and Russian descent and grew up with aunt and uncle, whose last name he took over.

His best-known roles are the young John Connor in Terminator 2 - Judgment Day and that of Danny Vinyard in American History X . Terminator 2 was his film debut, which instantly made him a popular teenage star. During the 1990s he played prominent leading and supporting roles in films such as Little Odessa , Die Grasharfe and Before and After . After the turn of the millennium, his drug addiction had an increasing impact on his career. He had to give up roles several times, for example he was replaced by Nick Stahl for Terminator 3 - Rebellion of the Machines (2003) .

Today he mainly plays in cheaply produced B-movies or independent films . In 2011, Furlong starred in the film The Green Hornet and in the thriller Below Zero alongside Michael Berryman . In 2012 he played in Syfy - TV -Horrorfilm Arachnoquake .

In April 2006 he married Rachael Bella , and in September 2006 both had a son. In July 2009, it was announced that the marriage was in divorce after three years. As the reason for this, Bella gave "irreconcilable differences". In March 2013, Furlong was sentenced to six months in prison for violating his probation status in connection with a domestic violence case.

For his role in Terminator 2 - Day of Reckoning , he was awarded the Saturn Award in the category Best Performance by a Younger Actor in 1992 . In 1994 he received the Young Artist Award for his role in Wilde Kastanien .
