action

Star Trek: Renegades

The Federation's main suppliers of Dilithium Crystals, which are needed for the flow of matter and antimatter in the warp reactors, are disappearing. Time and space have already folded around several planets and any contact with the planets seems impossible. It quickly becomes clear that the phenomenon is not natural, but that someone or something caused it on purpose. Admiral Pavel Chekov, the head of the Starfleet Secret Service, calls in Commander Tuvok, the former security officer of Voyager and now head of the autonomous defense organization of Starfleet. He is tasked, freed from the usual legal regulations, together with a newly formed crew, which consists largely of outcast and villainous criminals, to find out what is the cause of the folding of time and space and to stop the phenomenon at all costs.

Renegades - The Series

The focus is now on the spaceship Icarus under the command of Captain Lexxa Singh, who are sent on a secret mission by the admiral and his security chief Kovok to save the now called Confederation .

Development and publication

The planning of the crowdfunded project became known in 2012.

The pilot episode premiered on August 1, 2015 and released on YouTube on August 24, 2015 . Thereafter it was planned to develop a web series based on the film, which would become the pilot episode of the series.

In August 2016, the shooting of the first series episode, now without direct reference to Star Trek, was completed and a first trailer was published. The episode The Requiem: Part 1 was released on April 5, 2017.

In the meantime, it was planned to produce up to 12 episodes per year based on the usual structures of a television series production. A trailer for the episode The Requiem Part 2 was released in April 2017; however, this and other episodes have not yet been published (as of April 2020).

Reviews

On robots-and-dragons.de, Hannes Könitzer judged Star Trek: Renegades that the " viewing value of the film is not that bad". "Unfortunately, the film fails completely in terms of content. (...) The story is so confused and constructed that the spark simply does not want to jump over. (...) If you had concentrated on a more compact story and one or the other If the secondary character were left out, a better film would have been made. "
