Tim Russ
Timothy Darrell Russ (born June 22, 1956 in Washington, DC ) is an American actor and director .
Personal
Russ grew up as the son of an officer in the US Air Force on various bases. After high school , he moved to St. Edwards Private University in Austin , Texas , and studied drama . He lives in Los Angeles with his partner and has a daughter.
Career
While still a student, he got his first professional engagement in the television series Masterpiece Theater in 1977 . In 1985 he appeared in guest roles in Unknown Dimensions and Hunter . A year later he made his film debut in the road movie Crossroads - Pact with the Devil , followed by roles in Fire with Fire - Forbidden Passion and The White in the Eye . When the Star Trek television series Starship Enterprise: The Next Century was in the making , Russ auditioned unsuccessfully for the role of Geordi La Forge .
In 1988 he was cast as one of the supporting actors in the television series Highwayman , which, however, was canceled after only 9 episodes. In addition, he continued to guest roles on series such as Hill Street Police Station , The Prince of Bel-Air and Melrose Place . He played his first Star Trek roles in 1993 in Starship Enterprise: The Next Century and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . In 1994 he starred in the movie Star Trek: Generations Meetings .
In 1995 he was cast for the role of Vulcan Tuvok in the television series Star Trek: Voyager Spaceship , which he played for the entire duration of the television series until the end of 2001. By 2003 he released four albums as a singer . In 2006, Russ directed the star- studded fan film Star Trek: Of Gods And Men . Among others, Nichelle Nichols , Walter Koenig , Grace Lee Whitney , Alan Ruck , Garrett Wang , Chase Masterson and JG Hertzler can be seen in this film.
From 2007 to 2009 he played a supporting role in the sitcom Samantha Who? starring alongside Christina Applegate . From 2007 to 2012, Russ made recurring appearances on the television series iCarly .
In 2015, Russ directed another Star Trek fan film, Star Trek: Renegades , which was planned to kick off a stand-alone series and was crowdfunded . Russ worked again with Walter Koenig for the project, and his Star Trek: Raumschiff Voyager colleague Robert Picardo was also part of the cast. After the release of the film and a tightening of the regulations for Star Trek fan projects, Renegades continued in 2017 under the title Renegades - The Series .
