Michael Berryman (born September 4, 1948 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor who suffers from Christ-Siemens-Touraine syndrome . This extremely rare hereditary disease prevents him from growing hair and fingernails. Due to his appearance , he played the "monster" in a number of horror films .

Life

Michael Berryman was teased by many children in his childhood because of his hereditary disease and had to endure several operations. As an adult, he worked as a bodyguard for Bob Dylan , among other things . George Pal discovered him in 1975 and gave him his first film roles.

After he had supporting roles in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Doc Savage, Wes Craven installed him in Hill of Bloody Eyes . He plays a member of a mutant family in the film and was also used for the poster. The role made him known worldwide.

Because of his performance, he was offered some similar roles. He played similar roles in Deadly Blessings (1981), Rock Aliens (1984) and Cut & Run (1985). 1985 appeared In Death Valley of the Wolves , the successor to Hill of Bloody Eyes , in which he again took over the role of Pluto. That same year he also played in the music video Smokin 'in the Boy's Room by Motley Crue .

He had supporting roles in larger productions in Star Trek IV: Back to the Present , Double Dragon and Agent 00 - With the License to Smile . In 1994 he played the role of "Skull Cowboy" in The Crow , but was cut out of the film. He had a bigger role in the Rob zombie film The Devil's Rejects .

It is often used in individual episodes of television series such as An Angel on Earth , The X Files - The FBI's Scary Cases and Tales from the Crypt . In 2011 he received the "Lifetime Achievement for Excellence in Horror Film" award at the "Mile High Horror Film Festival".

Otherwise he mainly plays in B-movies by different directors and usually embodies the "monster" there. He is also a welcome guest at various horror festivals.

In 2012 he portrayed "Virgil Magnus" in Rob Zombies' The Lords of Salem . From April 13-15, 2012, he was a special guest at Monsterpalooza in Burbank, California. In April 2012 he got the lead role as World War II veteran Lawrence Beasley in the action horror series Hell Hunters alongside Bill Moseley .
