criticism

“A film that follows on from the success of the comedy A Strange Couple (1967), which focuses on the charm of the constellation of characters and brings them to the present time with some fashionable ingredients. Thanks to the two main actors Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau in the best mood and a largely clever script, despite not always very successful gags, a rock-solid cinema entertainment. "

“The classic male friendship comedy was staged by Howard Deutch, who obviously gave his two stars the freedom to let their long-time tried talents run free. Many of the gags are of the well-known kind, with the two launching a number of hearty swear words in contrast to the old-fashioned. The last quarter of the retiree road movie is indulged in obligatory sentimentality, which is intended to emphasize the values of love and friendship. Fans of the veteran team Matthau / Lemmon will surely be impressed by the reunion with the quarrelsome friends. "

The German Film and Media Assessment FBW in Wiesbaden awarded the film the rating "valuable".
