Christine Baranski
Christine Jane Baranski (born May 2, 1952 in Buffalo , New York ) is an American actress .
Life
Christine Baranski's father, an American of Polish descent, was the editor of a Polish-language newspaper. Christine Baranski attended the Villa Maria Academy and studied at the Juilliard School .
Baranski made her debut in 1980 in the award-winning television movie game time (Playing for Time) from a screenplay by Arthur Miller , where she next to Vanessa Redgrave played. In 1986 she appeared next to Mickey Rourke and Kim Basinger in 9½ weeks and played in the comedy Prosecutors You Don't Kiss at the side of Robert Redford , Debra Winger and Daryl Hannah . From 1995 to 1998 Baranski played the leading female role in the television series Cybill alongside Cybill Shepherd .
In the 1996 comedy The Birdcage , Baranski played the role of Katherine Archer , the mother of Val Goldman ( Dan Futterman ). In the 2000 comedy The Grinch , she appeared alongside Jim Carrey . In the 2002 film Chicago , Baranski starred alongside Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones . In 2008 she was in the movie Mamma Mia! to see in the role of Tanya alongside Meryl Streep , Pierce Brosnan and Julie Walters , in which she demonstrated her singing talent like her colleagues. In 2018 she also played in the second part Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again the role of Tanya.
From 2009 to 2016 she played the role of lawyer Diane Lockhart in the television series Good Wife and, since 2017, the leading role in the series spin-off , The Good Fight . Occasionally she has appeared in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory since 2009 in the role of Beverly Hofstadter , the mother of Leonard Hofstadter .
In 2018 she was accepted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.
Private
Christine Baranski was married to actor Matthew Cowles from 1983 until his death in May 2014 and has two daughters. She lives in Connecticut .
