The second award of the US Screen Actors Guild Awards , the Screen Actors Guild each year in the areas of film (5 categories) and television (8 categories) awards, took place on 24 February 1996 at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium instead. In contrast to the Golden Globe Award , for example, the so-called SAG Awards only honor film, television and ensemble actors and are a yardstick for the upcoming Oscar awards.
