Career
Glenn Close began her acting career in the final year of her college education at the Broadway theater . In 1980 she was nominated for the first time for the Tony Award , in 1982 she received the first of three awards.
That same year she was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her first film role in Garp and How He Saw the World . Four more nominations followed in the following six years, including Best Actress in A Fateful Affair and Dangerous Liaisons - but so far she has not been able to win the award. “Glenn Close was the obsessive, relentless border crosser, the modern femme fatale of cinema. With hard eyes and a lot of physical effort, she played the unyielding stalker in a fateful affair , the scheming seductress in the war between the sexes of dangerous love affairs and on Broadway the power-conscious mother prince in the medieval drama The Lion in Winter ", outlines the film critic Claudia Lenssen's Closes screen image on the occasion of a review from The Nobel Laureate's Wife : “The film titles already indicated that female characters à la Glenn Close were haunted by violent emotions. Glenn Close nevertheless managed to make visible, behind monstrous passions and vindictiveness, the hurt and disgrace that made her 'bad women' appear weak and strong at the same time. "
Private life
Close has been married for the third time since February 2006. Her daughter from a previous marriage is Annie Starke , born in 1988 , with whom she made the film The Nobel Laureate's Wife in 2017 . Glenn Close stars as Joan Castleman, and Annie Starke plays the young Castleman in the flashbacks.
