Golden Globe Award / Best Actress - Comedy or Musical

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Winner and nominee for the Golden Globe Award in the category Best Actress - Comedy or Musical (since 2005 Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy ), which honors the most outstanding acting achievements of the past calendar year. The category was launched in 1951. From 1944 to 1950 the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) awarded an actor's award (Best Actress in a Motion Picture) without subdivision by film genre (see Golden Globe Award / Best Actress - Drama ).

The best comedy or musical actress was later awarded the Oscar 16 times , most recently in 2019 when Olivia Colman was awarded the prize ( The Favorite - Intrigue and Insanity ) . In 1952, 1954, 1956, 1958, 1960, 1962, 1963, 1970, 1972, 1975, 1977, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1993, 1995–1997, 2001, 2009, 2015 and 2020, the award-winning film role was not considered for the Oscar . The 1979 winner for The Crazy California Hotel , Maggie Smith , later won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Role . The rare honor of being nominated for two different film roles in one year was given to the American in 1977Barbara Harris ( Family Grave , A Crazy Friday ).

American actresses have won the Acting Award 56 times (including actresses with dual citizenship such as Ann-Margret and Nicole Kidman ), followed by their colleagues from Great Britain (16 wins). In the past, an actress from German-speaking countries competed in vain for the award: 1960 Lilli Palmer for the English-language production Bei mir nicht . In 2008, the French actress Marion Cotillard ( La vie en rose ), who later won an Oscar, was honored for the first time as an actor in a non-English language film.
