The 2010 Golden Globe Awards were presented for the 67th time on January 17, 2010 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), an association of international film journalists. The award was given in a total of 25 categories for outstanding performance in the fields of film and television . The award ceremony took place at a gala dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills and was broadcast live by the US television station NBC . In Germany, the station ProSieben had the transmission rights. With the British comedian Ricky Gervais , a presenter led the award ceremony for the first time since 1995.

The director Martin Scorsese had already been chosen as the winner of the Cecil B. DeMille Award . He is recognized for his "outstanding contribution in the field of entertainment". The other nominations were announced on December 15, 2009 in Beverly Hills.

Favorite films

The nominations in the 25 categories were announced on December 15, 2009 by HFPA President Philip Berk, along with actors Diane Kruger , John Krasinski and Justin Timberlake .

Feature films and television programs that were shown for the first time between January 1 and December 31, 2009 were taken into account. Foreign language films had to have premiered in the country of origin between November 1, 2008 and December 31, 2009. A total of 173 feature films (including 68 comedies or musicals), 15 animated films, 133 TV series (including 54 comedies) and 33 mini-series or TV films qualified. With 69 submissions, a new record was set for the Best Foreign Language Film category .

James Cameron's science fiction film Avatar - Departure to Pandora , Scott Cooper's drama Crazy Heart and the animated film Oben were the most successful with two prizes each . Cameron's feature film won the best drama and director categories. Cooper's film about a worn-out country musician (played by Jeff Bridges ) won the Actor Award and the Award for Best Song. Up from the house Pixar sat in the categories Best Animated Film and Best Original Score by. The tragedy comedy Up in the Air by Jason Reitman , which was one of the favorites, was only able to convert its six nominations into one win (Best Screenplay), while the musical adaptation of Nine by Rob Marshall came out empty-handed despite five nominations.

The drama The White Ribbon - A German Children's Story by Michael Haneke , which has already won the European Film Prize , was recognized as the best foreign-language film. The European co-production started for Germany.

Sandra Bullock , Matt Damon and Meryl Streep have been nominated twice for their acting performances. While Bullock and Streep received awards for best drama and comedy actresses, Damon did not receive any awards. The Austrian Christoph Waltz , who has already won an award at the Cannes Film Festival for his role in Inglourious Basterds , won the Best Supporting Actor category . The best comedy was Hangover honored as best comedy actor triumphed Robert Downey Jr. for his title role in Sherlock Holmes .

In the television programs, the television film Gray Gardens and the series Dexter each received two awards. Anna Paquin ( True Blood , The Courageous Heart of Irena Sendler ) did not get beyond her two actor nominations .
