Mary Rose Byrne (born July 24, 1979 in Balmain , Sydney , New South Wales ) is an Australian actress .

life and career

Rose Byrne gained her first professional experience at the Australian Theater for Young People in Sydney. When she was fifteen, she got her first role in the comedy Dallas Doll . For the next five years she was cast in various television productions until in 1999 she received the next offer for a role in the cinema. Since then, she has appeared in several cinema and television productions every year.

For the lead role in Clara Law's romantic tragic comedy The Goddess of 1967 , Byrne received the Coppa Volpi in the category Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival in 2000 . Her breakthrough in her home country Australia brought her the lead role in the film I Capture the Castle in 2003 . Her best-known films include Star Wars: Episode II (2002), the historical epic Troy (2004) in which she played the temple servant Briseis , Sehnsüchtig (2004), the end times - horror film 28 Weeks Later (2007) and X-Men: First Decision (2011).
