Matthew James Morrison (born October 30, 1978 in Fort Ord , California ) is an American musical actor and actor . He was best known for his role as Will Schuester in the American television series Glee .

Matthew Morrison was in the former military base Fort Ord of the United States Army near the city of Monterey in the US state born California. After graduating from high school , he studied musicals at New York University and at the Conservatory of the Collaborative Arts Project 21 in New York. In 2002 he created the role of Link Larkin in the world premiere of the musical Hairspray on New York's Broadway . In 2005 he was nominated for a Tony Award for the role of Fabrizio Nacarelli in the Broadway production of the musical The Light in the Piazza .

After a few film roles and guest appearances in various television series, Morrison played the role of Spanish teacher Will Schuester in the Fox series Glee from 2009 until the end of 2015. For the part he was awarded the Satellite Award in 2009. The eighth episode of the third season of the series in 2011 Morrison made his directing - debut .

In the summer of 2011, Morrison released his first solo album.
