Reviews

The film received very mixed reviews. At Rotten Tomatoes it receives a 22% rating based on 132 mostly negative reviews from film critics.

Peter Travers from Rolling Stone magazine awarded a star and a half and wrote that the film "induces vomiting" and that only the cast deserves praise.

Matt Stevens from E! Online gave the film a negative rating, stating that the jokes are "obvious" and the "could have been dramatic scenes from any sitcom".

Betsy Sharkey of the Los Angeles Times criticized the confusion caused by the rapid image changes and the details of the pregnancy of five couples and wrote: "Instead of explaining the background, the film becomes even more confusing".

Joe Neumaier of the New York Daily News named the film a star, writing, “You know exactly what to expect from most of What Happens When It Happened. What you don't expect is how bad almost all of it is. ”He called the scene where Jennifer Lopez's character travels to Ethiopia and sees the child she's about to adopt the most moving moment in the film.

According to the lexicon of international films , the film is "a loose collection of anecdotes about five couples in more or less happy hope, which remains non-binding and hardly satisfies even minimal entertainment requirements."
