Bernhard Fehr
Bernhard Fehr (born February 18, 1876 in Basel ; † May 30, 1938 in Zurich ) was a Swiss English student .
Life
Fehr studied English in Basel and Geneva and received his doctorate in 1900. In 1909 he completed his habilitation in English philology in Zurich . During his studies he was a teacher in England from 1899 to 1904, then from 1904 to 1915 he was Professor of English Language and Literature at the St. Gallen Commercial College . From 1915 to 1917 he was professor of English philology at the Technical University of Dresden and from 1918 to 1919 at the University of Strasbourg . From 1919 to 1922 he was again active as a professor at the St. Gallen Commercial College, after which he worked at the University of Zurich until he died in 1938 .
In 1927, Fehr was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences . His estate is in the Zurich Central Library .
