Chris Rock
Christopher "Chris" Julius Rock III (born February 7, 1965 in Andrews , South Carolina ) is an American film actor , comedian and director .
Life
Shortly after he was born, his family moved to Crown Heights , New York . A few years later the family moved to Bedford-Stuyvesant "Bedstuy", Brooklyn, New York, a high-crime neighborhood in the Brooklyn borough of New York . He was one of the few African American schools in the Gerritsen Beach neighborhood of Brooklyn, 277 Public School and Marine Park Junior High, and was often disfellowshipped and beaten up by his white classmates because of his skin color. He left James Madison High School after 10th grade at the instigation of his parents without a degree. His father Julius Rock worked as a truck driver and newspaper deliverer. He died in 1988. His mother, Rosalie Rock, was a teacher and social worker for the mentally handicapped. He has three younger siblings named Tony, Kenny and Jordan who are also actors. His older half-brother Charles died in 2006 after a long battle with alcoholism.
From 1990 to 1993 he appeared on the American comedy show Saturday Night Live . Then he played u. a. in Lethal Weapon 4 , alongside Anthony Hopkins in Bad Company - The world is in good hands and in I Think I Love My Wife . He has remained true to his roots in stand-up comedy to this day: he still appears regularly in comedy clubs and releases live CDs and DVDs . His acting work includes around 70 productions.
In 2003 Rock made his directorial debut with Head of State . In 2006 he directed an episode of Everyone Hates Chris , followed the following year with his second feature film I Believe I Love My Wife . In 2014 he published the comedy Top Five and the television special Amy Schumer: Live at the Apollo . He also wrote the script for all of his directorial work.
On March 12, 2003, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
As a reference to his childhood experiences, the series Alle hassen Chris was created in 2005 , in which he also worked as a narrator.
In 2005 he hosted the 77th Academy Awards . In 2016 he again led through the Academy Awards .
Since May 2008, Rock has held the Guinness record for being the "most viewed live comedian" with 15,900 visitors at a show in London. However, this record was broken on July 12, 2008 by Mario Barth with around 70,000 spectators in the Olympiastadion Berlin .
