career

The striker and midfielder came to Fortuna Düsseldorf in 1987 through the clubs FC Roland Wedel, where he started when he was five, Wedeler TSV , Blau-Weiß 96 Schenefeld , SC Concordia Hamburg and Altona 93 . In Düsseldorf he had a good first season as a young player. He played 31 games and scored 8 goals. The second year was unsuccessful. He joined Eintracht in Braunschweig and was, with a few exceptions, a regular for two years and scored 14 goals. After an unsatisfactory offer for him, he moved to the French first division. After a quick coach release, he did not make a breakthrough in the 1991/92 season at the French first division club AS Nancy Lorraine . The SC Freiburg became aware of him, for which he played in the next one and a half seasons only in the 2nd Bundesliga and finally in the Bundesliga . Surprisingly for many, Seeliger switched to TSV 1860 Munich in the second half of the season and to VfL Wolfsburg in the following season - again in the second half of the season . In 1995 he was able to move into the final of the 1995 DFB Cup with the Wolves . Seeliger had his most successful period in the following two years when he returned to Düsseldorf and played in the Bundesliga. After Düsseldorf's relegation, he moved again; this time for two years for FC St. Pauli . His last positions were 1. SC Norderstedt (1999-2002), SC Victoria Hamburg , Lüneburger SK (2004/05) and SV Todesfelde, where he ended his active football career at the end of the 2007/08 season.

At the beginning of the 2008/09 season, Thomas Seeliger was a coach at TSV Holm in the Season 8 regional league in the Hamburg Football Association. He gave up this post in February 2009 to become coach at Altona 93 in the Regionalliga Nord . After relegation from the regional league, Seeliger stayed with this club in the Hamburg Oberliga , where he also became the sporting director of football in November 2010. In June 2011 the contract ended and they went their separate ways. After a short coaching position at SV Blankenese, Thomas Seeliger took over the coaching position at Eintracht Norderstedt in the Hamburg Oberliga in September 2012 and made it to the Regionalliga Nord with the team at the end of the 2012/13 season . For the 2017/2018 season, Seeliger took over the coaching position for the SC Weiche Flensburg promotion team in the Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga.

Seeliger is the owner of the DFB football teacher license, has successfully completed training as a sports and fitness businessman and training as a sports manager.
