Armin Reutershahn (born March 1, 1960 in Duisburg ) is a German football coach .

Career

As a player he was active for Preussen Krefeld , SV Schwafheim, TuS Xanten and VfB Homberg , only played in the youth teams of VfB Homberg and never became a professional.

Coaching career

Reutershahn began his coaching career in 1991 after studying sports science at the Sport University in Cologne as an assistant coach at Bayer 05 Uerdingen ; there he was head coach in the last game of the 1995/96 season against FC St. Pauli, at which point the Krefeld team had already been relegated. He was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga twice with Bayer 05 Uerdingen. In 1997 he became co-trainer at Hamburger SV under Frank Pagelsdorf and in 2004 he changed to Eintracht Frankfurt , where he worked under Friedhelm Funkel . There he was promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga and a year later he made it to the DFB Cup final against Bayern Munich.

From 2009 Reutershahn was assistant coach at 1. FC Nürnberg , where he succeeded Peter Hermann, who had moved to Leverkusen . First he was assistant to Michael Oenning and after his dismissal also to the new club trainer Dieter Hecking .

After the move from Hecking to VfL Wolfsburg , Armin Reutershahn and Michael Wiesinger took over the first division of the Franconia from January 1, 2013 .

On October 7, 2013, Wiesinger and Reutershahn were given leave of absence. The reason for this was the 5-0 defeat against Hamburger SV the day before , after which 1. FC Nürnberg was in 16th place in the Bundesliga.

On March 10, 2014, Reutershahn and Ton Lokhoff became co-trainer of Huub Stevens at VfB Stuttgart . Even under the new VfB coach Armin Veh , who took up his post on July 1, 2014, Reutershahn remained one of the two assistant coaches at VfB Stuttgart. After Veh's resignation on November 24, 2014, he worked again for VfB under the returning Huub Stevens. On November 24, 2015, head coach Alexander Zorniger was dismissed from VfB Stuttgart. In the course of this, Reutershahn was also released.

For the second half of the 2015/16 season , Reutershahn was assistant coach at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . He received a contract until June 30, 2019 and initially assisted - as at VfB Stuttgart - the Dutchman Huub Stevens . Since the 2016/17 season he has been assistant coach at Eintracht Frankfurt again. In May 2018, Reutershahn won the DFB Cup with Eintracht after beating FC Bayern Munich 3-1 in the final .
