Megan Mullally (born November 12, 1958 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress and singer .

Career

As the daughter of a film agent and a former model, Mullally came into contact with show business at an early age. Though she dropped out of acting at Northwestern University to study English literature instead, she began performing in musicals and eventually allowed talent scouts to persuade her to drop out altogether to try her hand at professional actress in Los Angeles .

In her second film role, she was seen alongside Tom Cruise in Lockere Shops . In Germany, Megan Mullally is mainly known for her roles in the television series Hinterm Mond direkt links and Will & Grace . For her portrayal of Karen Walker in Will & Grace , she won an Emmy in 2000 and 2006 and three Screen Actors Guild Awards from 2002 to 2004 and was nominated four times for the Golden Globe Award .

After Will & Grace ended , Mullally got her own afternoon talk show called The Megan Mullally Show . The show was advertised with her sitcom ego Karen Walker. However, due to bad ratings, the show was canceled after a few months. In 2019 she hosted the 25th US Screen Actors Guild Awards .

In addition to her acting career, she sings in a band called The Supreme Music Program .

Private life

Her first marriage was to the talent scout Michael Katcher in the mid-1990s. Since 2003 she has been married to the actor Nick Offerman for the second time . She currently lives in West Hollywood with her husband and 2 poodles .

In a 1999 interview with The Advocate , she said, "I consider myself bisexual and my philosophy is that everyone is naturally" with the emphasis on the second part of the sentence and not referring to the first part in the strict sense .
