Nick Offerman (born June 26, 1970 in Joliet , Illinois ) is an American actor . He was best known for his role in Parks and Recreation , an American NBC sitcom, as Ron Swanson.

Life

Offerman grew up in Minooka , Illinois . In 1993 he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign .

Offerman made his acting debut in 1997 with a role in the film The Long Road of Passion . From 2009 to 2015 he was one of the main characters, Ron Swanson, in the television series Parks and Recreation . In 2011, he received a Television Critics Association Award for this role.

Offerman is married to actress Megan Mullally . On the Parks and Recreation series , Mullally played Ron Swanson's second ex-wife, Tammy II.
