action

Frank Fisher is a widower and runs a record store in Brooklyn that isn't doing very well. He has been a single father since his wife died in a bicycle accident. All his life he looked after their daughter Sam, who was still a child when their mother died, and brought her close to classics like the Marx Brothers and Jeff Tweedy during this time. Since then they have shared their passion for music. Frank cannot or does not want to find her birth certificate, without which Sam cannot enroll in college.

After writing a song with his daughter, he has seen a surge in popularity as they are now in the digital age and his music is well received by the Spotify community. Sam doesn't know whether to stay with her father or leave town to start an apprenticeship in California. Frank only wanted to run the record store, which he has owned for 17 years, until his daughter is out of the house.

Then there are his landlady, Leslie, and Frank's best friend Dave, who once tried his hand at acting but only made one appearance in a Broadway play.

"This song also gave the film its title. The soundtrack for the film, which comprises a total of 13 pieces of music, including the song Hearts Beat Loud in several versions, was released on June 8, 2018 by Milan Records on CD and as a download.
