Ted Danson (* 29. December 1947 as Edward Bridge Danson III in San Diego , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Danson was best known for his role as Sam Malone, host of the Cheers pub in the series of the same name (1982-1993). For this role he was awarded two Emmys and two Golden Globes . Danson only appears sporadically in the cinema. He played alongside Tom Selleck and Steve Guttenberg in a remake of the French film Three Men and a Baby . In other films he only played supporting roles. The exception is Made in America , in which he portrayed the supposed sperm donor of Whoopi Goldberg's daughter.

However, Danson continues to be a major television star. He played the leading roles in various mini-series such as Gulliver's Travels or Talking To Heaven . In the successful sitcom Becker , he played from 1998 to 2004 the title character, a rude doctor and misanthrope . In 2009, Danson received his 13th Emmy nomination for his guest appearance as Arthur Frobisher in the episode They Had to Tweeze That Out of My Kidney of the series Damages . Also in the sitcom Leave It, Larry! (Original title: Curb Your Enthusiasm ) he had several guest appearances.

In the TV series CSI: Vegas he played the role of supervisor DB Russel for 86 episodes from the twelfth season to the end of the series in September 2015 . He played the same role from October 2015 to March 2016 in the offshoot CSI: Cyber (2nd season) and replaced Peter MacNicol . Danson also made a guest appearance on an episode of Family Guy .

Ted Danson does not have a permanent German voice actor. It is mainly spoken by Rüdiger Bahr ( Cheers , Becker ) but also by Peter Reinhardt ( The Good Place , Fargo ) and Bernd Rumpf ( CSI: Cyber ).

Ted Danson has been married to actress Mary Steenburgen since 1995 . They both played together on the sitcom Two In The Ink .
