CSI: Cyber is an American crime drama , which by the investigative team of the Department of Computer Crime of the FBI is. The investigative team deals with virtual crimes and thus deviates from the previous orientation of the CSI franchise, which was about criminal forensics. The offices are located in Quantico on the US east coast. CSI: Cyber is the third spin-off of the parent series CSI: Vegas . The backdoor pilot episode aired on season 14 of CSI: Vegas .
The series consists of two seasons with a total of 31 episodes and aired in the United States from March 4, 2015 to March 13, 2016 on CBS .

In the United States , the series ran on Wednesdays on CBS on the same slot where the parent format CSI: Vegas was formerly located. The backdoor pilot episode was already running as the 21st episode of the 14th season of CSI: Vegas on April 30, 2014. Furthermore, there was a crossover with CSI Vegas on November 16, 2014 before the start of the series . The station broadcast the regular first episode on March 4, 2015. The first season finale was shown on May 13, 2015. The second season was shown between October 4, 2015 and March 13, 2016. After the audience ratings had fallen by more than 30 percent compared to the first season, CBS announced the discontinuation of the series in May 2016.
German-speaking area
As with the other three CSI series, Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland had secured the broadcasting rights for German-speaking countries . On March 5, 2015, the pay TV broadcaster RTL Crime showed the backdoor pilot for CSI: Cyber as a German premiere. The regular broadcast began on free TV on RTL on September 8, 2015.
