Hayley Kiyoko (born April 3, 1991 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actress , singer and dancer of Japanese descent . She became internationally known for her leading role in the television film Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins from 2009. In addition to her work as an actress, she has become known in recent years as a singer and LGBT activist, especially for the open expression of her homosexuality through her music.

life and career

Hayley Kiyoko was born in Japan and grew up in Los Angeles, California. She was discovered at the age of five while accompanying a friend on a photoshoot. She was asked to pose in front of the camera herself and ended up in a print medium for a local company after the shoot. Eventually she was discovered by the broadcaster Nickelodeon . It has also been used in various advertising campaigns. She received dance lessons from the dancer Scotty Nguyen, among others.

Kiyoko was the head girl at her middle school . In the senior year she worked her way up to school VP ( Vice-Principal , Vice-Rector) and assisted the school's principal. The Agoura High Step Team was created under her direction and choreography . After graduating from Agoura High School , she was admitted to the Clive Davis School of Recorded Music at New York University, but did not take up this degree for career reasons.

Around 2008 she became a member of the five-member girl group "The Stunners". Parallel to her music career, Kiyoko has also been working as an actress since 2009 and appeared in the TV film Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins starred as Velma Dinkley . In 2010, she starred in four episodes of Stevie in the television series The Wizards of Waverly Place . In the summer of 2010, Kiyoko toured with The Stunners as opening act for Justin Bieber . Kiyoko also had another appearance in the TV movie Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster from 2010, again in the role of Velma Dinkley . In 2011 she starred in the film Lemonade Mouth - The Story of a Band .

2015-2016 she was in the television series CSI: Cyber as Raven Ranmirez .
