Blue Lagoon: The Awakening (Original Title: Blue Lagoon: The Awakening ) is an American television film that premiered on Lifetime Television on June 16, 2012 . Directed by Mikael Salomon , Indiana Evans and Brenton Thwaites played the leading roles. The television film is the fifth adaptation of the novel The Blue Lagoon by Henry De Vere Stacpoole and a remake of the movie The Blue Lagoon from 1980.

The two students Emma and Dean are on a class trip to Trinidad to build a school there and to explore the island. Emma falls overboard during a boat party when the party is interrupted by a raid . Dean jumps into the water to save her. In a rubber dinghy they arrive on a lonely island. Although they have little in common, they now rely on each other to survive. Over time, they develop feelings for one another and have a romantic relationship. After over a hundred days on the island, they are rescued by a tourist helicopter and brought back to their homeland. They are expected by their families, friends and the media. Emma is an even more popular student than before she disappeared, while Dean is still an outsider who longs for Emma. Emma attends the prom , and Dean decides to go there too, after a little encouragement from his father. Emma and Dean kiss passionately and dance together at prom.
