Andromeda is a two-part science fiction film from 2008 based on the novel by Michael Crichton and a remake of the 1971 film . Directed by Mikael Salomon based on a script by Robert Schenkkan . The film was released on DVD in Germany on June 4, 2009 .

The plot is roughly similar to that of the original 1971 film . The crash site of the space probe will be moved from New Mexico to Utah in the remake .
This film shows aspects of violent crime (as a result of the virus) and environmental pollution.

Remarks
The material in which the foreign organism was enclosed consists of fullerenes doped with rubidium and sulfur atoms , which have a lattice structure in the form of a truncated icosahedron (also called " buckyball ") with 60 corners. The outer shell of the spacecraft has the regular shape of a truncated icosidodecahedron .
