Eric James McCormack (* 18th April 1963 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian - American actor .

Life

The son of an actor , McCormack attended theater school at Ryerson University in Canada and at the Banff Center for the Arts, with the support of his parents . He then played five seasons at the Stratford Festival Theater.

McCormack became known to a wide audience through the title role of Will Truman in the US sitcom Will & Grace . For his role as Will he was nominated five times for the Golden Globe and won an Emmy once in 2001 . After numerous guest appearances and supporting roles in various films and television series, he played the leading role of Dr. Daniel Pierce in the crime series Perception .

In addition to his acting activities, McCormack also takes on dubbing roles, such as in the animated series Pound Puppies - The Paw Club in which he played the leading role for three years from 2010.

Since August 3, 1997, he is married to the assistant director Janet Holden. The two have a son (* 2002). McCormack now has both Canadian and US citizenship .

On September 13, 2018, he was honored with the 2,644th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame .
